Well, regarding the Traditional forums, it’s based on 1965 and earlier, so actually pre-‘66.
So when you bring up wheels that most likely were never used on a hot rod in the timeframe the forum is for, expect criticism, same with LS engines, EFI, etc.
the parts you mentioned will most likely get a pass (brakes, etc) but lines are drawn on some things.
Hey, it’s your car, do what you want, best is to not discuss or show pics of it with the wheels on it that you were considering.

Stronger and stiffer than a set of original wire wheels with over 90 years of corrosion and wear.

  4. Aluminum wheels will break if you hit a curb, Steel wheels would be a good choice, go hunting at your big Pick a Part wrecking yard.

That's why cop cars usually have the cheap steel wheels.
Well, that and the cops are often in bad neighbourhoods where their aluminum wheels might get stolen for scrap.

If you hit a curb that hard the tire is gonna get shredded and the steel rim is gonna be bent enough that nothing is gonna seat on it. Yeah sometimes you can bend it back but a lot of the time it'll be fucked up enough that it's not even worth trying. Cops run steel wheels because they run through a lot of rims and it's cheaper to run through steel ones than aluminum, it's not like they're repairing either.

Just about no hot rod has a suspension built in a manner that will survive the kind of event by which a sub-4000lb car trashes a rim. Your radius arm will be a pretzel.

Same as me & my Tudor. After a few years I realized we're OT . In some cases, I have sacrificed the old, original in favor of better performing, thus being shunned by the purists.
Many such as myself have found haven in the
"Off topic" forum. Come join us on the wild & lawless frontier! p.s. As many have said above " if you can live with the look...." I could not.

Are you sure they'll clear your brakes? I think '67 birds had the same Kelsey-Hayes calipers as my '66, they're pretty big. I had a hard time finding a set of aftermarket wheels that fit.
