How The H.A.M.B has inspired Me....Pics

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bonehead II, Jul 23, 2008.

  1. Listen to what the guys say.
This is an excellent time in the build to make necessary corrections.

Looks like the rear radius rods are hung out on a long tube.
Torque, with even a mild engine will tear those loose in short order.
Especially if accelleration is combined with hitting a bump, RR tracks etc.

What kind of trans mount do you have?
Mainly wondering what keeps the front engine mounts from flexing fore and aft during normal driving.

Some clever thinking in your car, you just need to get the suspension et al set up right.

I'm guessing the reversed rear wheels are a temporary expedient until you can get the wheels you need.

Interesting body design, does the back remain open or are you doing something with it?
A pickup bed ala the short bed 4-door late pickups could be cool.
Maybe even a 23 T type rear quarters and trunk setup?

Kevin Lee started a good discussion on radius rods etc. here: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=280835

Take a look, lots of good information from a bunch of knowledgeable people.

Love the ride, think Fred Flinstone may want his rims back though!

  3. Hey I've seen fords with wood wheels. never solids though.

Ok p***ing the sarcasm, SWEET, what else can I say.

I can't even count the times I've suggested plywood for mock up wheels. I can't say that I've done it myself but I know lots of pro builders that do just that. You don't end up with tires n wheels that are shop worn that way I guess.

What's that intake? I'm not a big inline fan but that is one of the better looking mills I've seen in a long time.

Looks like its time to wire it n fire it.

Nice look to it, though I am wondering where you got those early Model T Centerline's for the front ;-)

I especially like the quickee and rear tire, looks sweet to me.....

OK guys, thanks for all your help, the front & rear hairpins will be filed in with 10ga. and lighting holes add. the front hairpins will get a couple of gusset's added to that 1/4" DOM coming out of the frame.also a new rear spring is in order. The transmission is firmly mounted. The intake is off a race car and I found it in some old guys garage with 3 brand new Holley 2 bbl.By the way the fronts tires are Firewoods 3/4 x 24"
