Technical How-to; 1940 Dodge running boards

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by willys36, Aug 18, 2023.

  1. Am building a 1940 Dodge Special coupe and customer wants to use the stock running boards. Steele nor Metro Rubber make repro covers. Anyone out there have a suggestion on what to use?

My friend Bill built up a '40 Dodge ages ago and we recovered the running boards with some black rubber that didn't fit the curves well but was the best that we could do. Can't remember where it came from.

  3. Probably the 'universal' rubber mat that Metro sells. They have two different versions, wide and narrow ribs.

Thank you for answering your own thread Jeff. I could use some of that stuff.

  6. As you mentioned, doesn't lend itself to curvy, compound corners.
