Running around the east coast is a '32 vicky highboy with a hand clutch column shift setup. I saw him pull into a show, open the door, throw his wheelchair out the door, put the wheels on, he hoped in it, shut the door and was on his way. Awsome! I'll try and find out who it is for you.

  2. Thank you!!! I would appreciate the info!!!

  3. I am thinking a bracket with a couple pulleys attached to a motorcycle clutch lever/cable may be the ticket, when attached to the rod that activates the clutch..... I havent got an eyeball on it just yet but I dont think it needs to go more than a couple inches to engage.... taking the long travel of the pedal out of the equation and going right for the source, when coupled to a couple pulleys for mucho leverage just might do the trick.....

    Thanks!

Did you have any luck finding anything?

  6. I got with my local model A club and we figured it out. I have yet to install the stuff, but the stock banger makes enough vacuum to power a power brake booster. I will then make a braket to attach tthe cable from a motorcycle clutch lever mounted on my hand controls. When I pull on the lever, it will pull the plunger into the brake booster, and force the fluid from the master cylinder out to a slave mounted on a trunion, which will push or pull the clutch arm. Very similar to amphicar's setup, but my engine makes enough vacuum to do the deed without needing an external vacuum pump. That is where I was getting tied up, as 6V vacuum pumps are unobtanium, and those 6 to 12V converters are junk.... But that is all a mute point now!!! I will post pics when I get it in the car, just sorting out the bugs for now, rebuilt the frontend, did some gaskets, exh manifold gasket, etc. Runs good when ya get her started but it is a hard starting *******...... Leaks oil from the main like that oil leak in the gulf!!!

    Thanks to all who helped!!!

I know this is an old post. But I made a comment in the start of this thread. I forgot about it , but here is how I drive my RPU with hand controls. Simple, direct, mechanical, linkages. Took me about 2hrs. to build and install. I push in on the clutch, put in first, rev it and go..(hence the throttle on the shifter). Then I shift w/o the clutch( most the time). Someone ask about cornering. Slip it in neutral, rev it ,down shift ,drive it through the corner and go, get it. (It helps having a suicide knob) (which is required anyway). I usually slip it in N. coming up to a light and brake .Being w/o legs made me think alittle more of how things need to get done, other ways around things.
    I ride my HD w/ a sidehack . hand clutch/shift..
I am however going to an auto. for simplicity. This keeps you busy, till your off and away.!
