Ya' know. This is really great tech, and I'll tell you why. Anyone with a little bit of patience, some basic fabricating tools and a some good common sense can take advantage of this thread. It's something that you would have seen in Hop Up like 50 years ago. Great job and thanks for sharing! Two thumbs up! (and not in "the Fonze" way)

So... how were they when you mounted them? Let's see 'em!

Was your car found with the ***anic? ****!! Good thing you know how to fabricate. I would hate to see the sheet metal on that thing. Good job on using your noodle. Good luck with the car.

I was actually out at Oz's..finally grabbed my 32 from his loft. He had the Bonneville car looking pretty damn good. I guess the guy was picking it up within a day or so of when i got there..
Anyway, i know i'll be out that way again soon. When i do i'll try and make it a sat and stop by Marks too..

Ok, no more highjacking this killer post.....sorry about that.
You deserve all the credit your getting for it. Like i said above, i'm sure it will come in very handy to many of us.
    Thanks!

    See ya soon ..

sometimes it not about how long something takes to make..its the feeling of satisfaction when it's done and when you can say that you made something from scratch. Excellent job

  21. Very cool! I like the fact the the Lathe has no Aloris type quick change tool holder....makes me feel at home

  22. i really gotta thank everyone for the positive responses, it blew my mind to see that pic up on the journal today.

i do feel as though i owe someone some credit here for some major help on this topic, my wonderful girlfriend Jenny did all the camera work and hung out with me in the shop while i made the hinge here, i gotta say thanks to her and her patience. without that, we wouldnt have that cool torchin pic!

  23. Thanks Matt!

great tech post.just done very similar to make hinges for rear door on a 32.bolts are just temporary while i'm working on it,have made pins with straight knurl and domed head.had to make to suit door as had no existing hinge to copy.mounted them solid to door and body side has a "floating" plate for adjustment.

Looking good! I tried surfing the net for weeks finding a hinge for my '31 Chevy coupe. But in an hour or so I made my own, it is much more fun than just ordering one.
