OK just spent an hour in NAPA and left empty handed.... How do you order a brake hose without a vehicle to associate it with. My hose is on my 35 ford truck. I have no confirmation but was told 40 something brakes. The hose is about 14 inches long male on wheel side female on opposite side. Anyone know what vehicle it may be from?? In the back of their brake parts book there should be several pages of hoses with dimensions and end types listed. They show them online http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/R...Keyword&Nty=1&Dn=0&D=brake+hose&Dk=1&Dp=3&N=0 but it might take several hours of going through them to figure out some good prospects to look at at the store. This should be close to what you are looking for via Sacramento Vintage Ford http://www.vintageford.com/sect_sea...ine=V-8&Category=Brakes&StartRow=41&PageNum=3 OOps scroll down the page a ways.
Both ends are 7/16 x24. Sorry in my rush to post I left that out Sent from my iPhone4 using TJJ iPOLYFRIED 35
I needed a brake hose and did not have a "car" to reference it to. I did have a hose that fit the wheel cylinder and another piece of hose that fit the fitting it needed to connect to. I took both pieces to a big rig truck shop that makes custom brake lines along with a piece of wire I used to mock up the length of hose I needed. they made it in about 20 mins.
Close but that had the same ends rather than m/f. I appreciate your help! Sent from my iPhone4 using TJJ iPOLYFRIED 35
Thanks I may have to do something like that in the end :0( Sent from my iPhone4 using TJJ iPOLYFRIED 35

sounds like you got some good leads. on my willys i took in the old one we just started opening boxs. then i wrote it down in my notebook that is dedicated to this PK. that way it is easier should anything ever happen. same thing with the points in my distributer. they are the same from some year of a pontiac...i think. its in the book. thats why we wright down. my sometimers takes over.
Don't be sorry ... I really do appreciate your help. I called NAPA with that number and the guy says female on both ends. That's all I know. I will get on my PC tonight and look it up so I can take something with me to back me up. The rest of the links in that post are not coming through right on my phone :0( Again I really do appreciate your help. Sent from my iPhone4 using TJJ iPOLYFRIED 35
I took in my old hose (actually it looks fairly new but I nicked it with my grinder) but the guy did not seem willing to dedicate hours to my cause LOL I also try to record this info for the next caretaker ... It's an awesome idea and the next owner will love you for it! Thanks for the input! Sent from my iPhone4 using TJJ iPOLYFRIED 35
I copied and pasted right from the NAPA website. We are a NAPA Auto Care Center as well as a speed shop. Your NAPA guy is a moron and you can tell him I said so. Peace.
using a buyers guide to find "custom parts" can be frustrating.i spent a lot of years behind parts counters, most of the younger parts guys dont want to go the extra inch, nor do they want to let you browse their catalogues.
He said: Both ends are 7/16 x24. Sorry in my rush to post I left that out You said: Brake Hose End Type : Female - 7/16" - 24 & Male - 7/16" - 20 Male or female, the thread count doesn't seem to match.
It is so frustrating to deal with traditional parts houses these days. Especially regarding anything that cannot be looked up on a computer by using make, model, and year. Fortunately we only need simple staple items from NAPA since 95% of what we sell and do relates to high performance or hot rods. We stock a bunch of #3 and #4 premade braided brake lines in varried lenghts and every fitting known to man. I can make up a brake hose for anything in 60 seconds or less by just by sight and am damn proud of it.
39-48 Ford wheel cylinders are 7/16X 20 thread,1/4 inverted flare nut is 7/16X24 thread. The fronts are , rear are 7/16X24 with a tube seat.
i spent almost 25yrs behind the parts counter.i could make a book tell me anything i wanted to know.i could beat the boss with me in the books and him on the computer.he had to ask all kinds of shit that he didnt need to know most odf the time.the back of them books are a gold mine of info, all you need to know to get what you want.the younger guys dont know how or really want to learn to make the books talk.it dont take hrs. to find what you want if you know the sizes.most brake hose listing are also listed by size and type of ends.the boys at the stores i go to just tell me to find what i need in the book and i give them the part number and get my stuff and go home.but i dont go to autozone or advance.i dont go to any corporate owned store where the parts guys came straight from mcdonalds.
