how to change fuel fitting on carb?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by spark, May 27, 2004.

  1. I have a Carter AFB 600cmf carb. I want to change the fuel entry on the carb, its on the right side and the left side is sealed off.

How is the bung held in there? Pressed?
What’s he best way to remove the bung? And will it have a thread for the fuel line fitting, or will one have to be tapped?

Are you sure there is a bung in there? It could be that they didn't drill it out and tap it. Hope it helps ya. later plmczy

  3. Had another look it and it could be the same material as the carb body.

I will have get a gasket kit, pull it apart, see if I can tap a thread the other side and put a plug were fuel line is now.

I haven’t worked on this brand before and thought I would ask before I pulled it apart.

When you drill it, the hole will have to have the same flare as the other side to accept your fuel line. I don't know if you can do that at a home shop or if you would have to take it to a machine shop to have it done. later plmczy
