How to clean tarnish off a gauge face ?

    this gauge goes on my 20 cadillac tank it looks like it has old gas tarnish on it. i want to clean it off i tried thinner, metal etch nothing works. the face is brass with black letters. any tricks to fix this ? heres a pic of the tank i brushed it with por 15 it looks sweet. thanks billy

  2. Not sure,but jewelers that repair clocks,or hobby shops that sell model railroad stuff,use small ultrasonic baths,for delicate cleaning like that.It's a small container which holds water or mild cleaning solution,and uses sound waves(vibrations) to float away contaminents.;)

    Harbor freight has said ultrasonic cleaners for $50.
