Soap (insert your favorite), water and elbow grease has always been the solution for the solution. Now, quit asking dumb-assed questions and get at it!!!

  4. Storage dust is like patina.
Don't disturb it, leave it in the original as found condition .

I never understood the love for barn dirt and bird shit. Some of those who pine away for such things ought to park their shiny new hot rods in a dirty old barn on a regular basis. Just think, in a couple years they'd fit right in.

A filing station where I bought gas back in the 60's would add some kerosine to their soapy water when washing a car that had been sitting awhile. I don't know what the kerosine did ?? Any ideas ???

  13. With a barn find it is most important to remove the dust in the official Barrett Jackson Mecum manner. Firstly you must scale Mount Everest using a 30yo Blonde virgin from your nearest trailer park as your guide.

Find the dust fairy at the top of the mountain, he looks similar to a rectangular car washing sponge. Entice him back to your house with the promise of his favorite drink, soapy car wash - he prefers it served in a large red bucket.

Now is the really important part, you need to find a long skinny usually green nylon cylinder for distributing water. Grasp it firmly near its end. Point it at your car, shooting water at it - this will ward off all glove box gremlins and fuel cap leprechauns.

Hose away the bulk of the dust, remember there is 125years of it. Then introduce the dust fairy to his favorite drink - once he is well and truly full - rub him on your car in a gentle circular motion. Much the same way you would rub baby oil on a fine young filly's firm behind.

Once you have done that, use the hose again to ward off the remaining glove box gremlins and fuel cap leprechauns.

  23. Are you fucking kidding me ?

Any person that needs to "ask" how to wash a car isn't qualified to make any statement on condition or determine a museum quality.

This is bullshit and I want the 7 mins I spent on this thread back.
    And I want them now!!!!

    How many ways can you ask how to wash dust off a car? You already asked the question in your post from the previous day;

The car is covered in 30 year old dust!!
I would love to know how do i go about washing a car like this to get the 10ft deep dust off?

BTW, How did the replies end up going down the (i hate) patina and bird shit route?

Oh, man! I just found a way to make a fortune!
Because of the all rat rod, patina, barn find MANIA going on, I've got an idea to help all these posers keep the "original" finish on their cars.
I am going to patent the method of applying that clear epoxy they use so thickly on bar tops to preserve rough wood, or inlays in the wood. Now you can keep the look of all that dirt, leaves, bird shit, etc.!
Yeah, that's the ticket! "Patina Preserve" I'll call it! "Museum quality" "Impress your friends! Get the Orcabilly chicks! No washing necessary!

OOOPS...I just gave away my secret and I won't get rich on TV!
