Get some naptha, pour a bit it in the crack, let it evaporate, then close the crack. The naptha will melt the rubber and allow it to bond the two sides together.

  3. Have you given any consideration to using black silicone caulk,,you could grab a caulking gun and trim the tip of the caulk to the desired width and slowly fill the crack.

Any excess can be wiped off with no ill effects. HRP

    Hey,

IDEA #3 says you may wanna check out the repair kits sold by auto body supply outlets for repairing urethane bumpers. These ''kits'' contain a flexable filler that when properly mixed and cured, can be sanded and painted over, to produce a professional repair.

Also, you may wanna look into repainting these parts with a flex agent, added to the finish ,to produce a durable, long lasting finish.

You could remove the original part, clean them up, an cast a repopped part from a mould you make from castable urethane. You next add pigment, usually carbon black, to the castable urethane to produce a ''rubber-like'' part.

After the repair is done, have the guards covered with Rhino Liner, or a similar product. We've saved the rubber stone guards from my nephews 51 Bus coupe, and if they go back on the car, they'll get the Rhino Liner treatment. Butch/56sedandelivery.
