I think the turning point for me to start embracing patina was the realization after several years of work , the day it`s completed starts the aging process all over again. I have plenty of pretty cars but drive my shop trucks a lot more.
after reading this thread the only thing that can be said with any degree of certainty is that old car people are all just plain nuts... in a good way though.
Thanks I haven't heard that in a few years. Now I've got to dig up my Dr. Demento Christmas album. Sent via Illinois Bell Telephone Company's Car Radiotelephone
I wouldn't clear it, neutralize any rust with ospho, CLR or similar. If there no spots where the paint is missing worn thru 3M imperial hand glaze does a great job bringing back dead paint. If it's really worn, I'd buff in johnsons paste wax. Its heavier than car wax and will coat any exposed areas well.
Mop-N-Glo. Good enough for the Air Force, and their matte drab paint. That's it. No sanding, and wasted effort. I don't understand these threads. Your mom never went thru all this effort saving her old *** floors. Just cleaned it, and made it shine. Bought new floors when she could afford it.
Finally we get to the real answers to a simple question. Mop-n-Glo acrylic floor finish sounds like a winner to me. Then there a new product thats called RatWax that really works. Opinions are like tailpipes , everyones got one but some sound better than others, Just sayin'
