I did this a while back but here we go!!! Break out the grinder, welder and Mud bucket. Items you will need: 1953 or Equivalent Mercury Rings. They do sell a re-pop version, which im using here. -Welder -Angle Grinder Step 1 - Remove your Headlight buckets Step 2 - insert your bucket from the inside of the fender to attach. Sometimes the outer lip will have to be ground off if you are using stock "smooth" french rings like on a 1950 Ford, to flush the bucket to the fender and make the correct contour/shape w/ the headlight ring. Step 3 - grind around front of fender where you will welding new ring.
Shaping!!!! I use the new Evercoat Lightweight Fiberglass (green in color) to fill in the contours to get the fender to "flow" forward into the frenched rings. The Fiberglass hardens like a rock, but sands like filler. I have also used Lead to fill in the void.
Here is an Idea you can do with 1956 Oldsmobile 98 Convertable Taillights on your "Shoe" using lead and formed sheetmetal.
