He was just going into turn two HRP when it blew, could not get her "whoad" up in time.

Big Hugh Ness gets my vote for "Millionaire For the Day" award, that must be a Traditional TV show.

  7. Doesn't matter how they look. I had a tire I got at the you-pick that was like brand new, it had been the spare and kept covered and everything.

I got like three weeks out of it before it came apart at highway speeds. Same kind of deal, a big chunk of tread came off.

Thought it'd be a lot worse.

Try having a tire chain break while navigating Donner p*** to Tahoe during snow flurries with nowhere to pull over.

I listened to that chain slapping the rear quarter of the wife's freshly painted '68 Camaro for miles.

    Imagine that damage.

  9. dons hot rods... yeah the lake pipe was mounted along the rocker with the cap pointing out wards like it should be

HRP yeah if you read the story I posted the BANG thump thump thump was the sound of the tire section slappy the inner fender silly I actually pulled it over with in a minute of the bang its not like I drove it for miles saying hmmm I wonder what that sound could be

ive seen people drive cars a lot further in worse shape but I knew every slap was costing me money and time two things which I don't have a lot of

I don't think gt qualifiers have been made for 10 years or more

  13. I think it likes the lake pipes better then what the previous owner had on it 70's style side pipes ...yuck

IF I were that Pontiac sedan...and YOU bolted that visor on me, hung 'kickstands' on my rockers, then painted fire all over me, well...I'd have puffed that tire on you at 90.

  15. You broke the 6 year old tire rule.......does not matter how they look, what is the DOT number......... X7

Those tires are old man. Time to invest in some new ones. By the way you should definately make sure that you put raised white letter tires back on the car. They are super traditional.

I love the way everyone says those tires must be old by looking at them ~ even though Dunlop, a very respected tire company by the way, still makes them. Yes he has now said that they were pretty old, but the "jump to conclusion" gang cracks me up every time.

Those tires that he has on that car right now have been discontinued now for 5+ years. There is a new style GT ribbed style now without raised white lettering.

The trailer axle bearing on my friends rig hauling his 37 Packard let loose on the way back to Omaha from GoodGuys Des Moines Sunday morning. After we jacked it up, we were able to take the wheel off without unbolting anything. Imagine if it would have come off at 70mph on I80

kind of like my truck and my wife , my truck don't like her , she leaves junk in him , and he gets mad . won't start for her or let her in on the p***enger side door ..

Maybe Chief Pontiac getting even for you owning one of Henrys cars ..

  23. We all like to think that all car guys are intelligent and cool! This forum proves otherwise
Back to the topic, A few years back Ford had a lot of legal problems over Bridgestone tires. I wonder how much of that was because idiots ran them low on air, curbed them, etc. and when they needed a scapegoat "hey Ford has lots of money"
Has you girlfriend ever hit a block of wood, or run the tire low on air? Maybe the tire was remounted backwards so it turned the opposite direction, that's been known to cause problems.
Maybe it isn't the manufacturers fault at all! Maybe God just gave you a little slap up along side the head so you will pay attention next time!

Radial tires used to last a lot longer than they do now, I wonder if it is something in the vulcanizing process that was outlawed? You never used to see tires throw their treads and separate the way they do nowadays. I never seem to have this problem with bias-ply tires I run on my old cars.

  25. mike believe me if I could id rip that visor off and throw as far as it would fly tried to talk her into leaving it off after I painted it black the visor is one of the main reasons she bought the car !!!!

and she loves her lake pipe kick stands I kinda do to

and she wanted it black with flames (my first real spray gun flames instead of spray can )

I think the old poncho is pissed because the previous owner took out her straight 8 and put a small block chubby in it I WISH it had apontiac v8 in it

I get the feeling more than a few of us are interested in the age of those tires, i'd like to know the tire's dot number located on the side wall near rim.

  27. well the dot number must be on the inside I looked at both of the front tires outside wall I don't see any such number on them when I take the damaged tire off to fix the inner fender I promise to post the number

Those specific type of Dunlops haven't been made in over 10 years, maybe even 15. Doesn't matter what they look like, they're lethal.

Sorry for your luck but I'm glad nobody got hurt.

I just noticed a vibration in my 55 Ford that has 6 year old tires so I am thinking a new set may be in order,if that tire damaged anything I know of some of those Pontiacs in a junkyard up here in Dayton. There is a big Pontiac convention at the Nutter center this weekend and they have a large swapmeet.

  30. ill be at the goodguys show in Columbus on Saturday

I might need the driverside inner fender it deffinatly needs to be straightened out
can you send me some contact info for those yards?
