Here's a little how to on early F1 shock mounts and using them on any hot rod!! The style I'm using are 1948-1952 F1 Pickup shock arms, but Dodge also made some from 48-60s that are very similar! Check it out!
Good video. I've planned on running those front shock mounts on my project and collected a few pics over time.
The ‘48 thru ‘53 Dodge trucks are B series, ‘54 thru ‘60 C series and ‘61 thru ? are D series, the B series definitely used that style front shock mount. Nice how to video.
I used the Dodge version on my '32, they are shorter than the Ford units. Still require them to be heated and bent a little to get the right angle for the shocks.
Bob Drake repops the F1 mounts, I got mine from Summit for 80 bucks shipped if you don't care that they are reproduction. Still very good quality.
Nice work, Chad! Fenders do complicate the mounts a little, don't they? Especially fabbing with them on! They do look great. I squished my axle narrower so the steering hoop came close to the shock body and that needed some TLC, too.
