Hi, this is a picture of my grandpa, Arvid Gunnarson, at the DX gas station that he owned in Annandale Minnesota right after world war II. I was thinking it would be cool to find a gas pump or two like these and have them on display in my shop. I am not up to speed on vintage gas pumps at all. Where do I start? How can I learn what these pumps are? I would think if I knew the make and model, that would be very helpful in searching. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks, Joel

I do a little collecting gas/oil & believe the pump is a Wayne model 70 & that paint scheme was used 1947 -1956 by Cities Service also out of Tulsa, Ok. like DX Diamond which used solid red pumps 1939-1959 Also google Wayne 70 Cities Service, look under images they have A Wayne 70 model green/white pump, there with the Wayne emblem which is attached under door glass kinda like what your picture shows on the pump on right & hope this helps you Laroy

It looks to me like Pasngas nailed it! I didn't know what brand grampa was pumping, but an old timer recently told me it was DX. But that sure looks like a Cities Service paint scheme. I think I'll check with the historical society for old pics of the location. Maybe I can see the sign. Thanks for all the help!

Maybe he switched from cities service to Dx or the other way around. The pumps have cities paint job. Joel was his station on 55 or some were else?

Bill, that's amazing! Yes that has to be it. I was told that it was just east of the Thayer hotel. Here is a screenshot from Google maps. It has the Thayer hotel, and the street scene just to the east still has that brick building with the outside stairway.
The gas station isn't there anymore. But considering that the pattern on the pumps is the cities service paint scheme, and that little location is right, that has to be Grandpa's station. Now the hunt is on for the right gas pump for my collection !
Thanks for all of your help, I can't believe how quickly all of this came together. Never underestimate the power of the hamb!
