how to identify transmissions..

    how do you tell the diffrence between a th350 and a th400 can we have some pictures of the diffrences ..thanks...

    The pan on a 350 is rectangular with the corner cut off. There are charts on the internet that show you, I can't link up stuff from work.

    i tried to find some pictures of close ups of both diffrent ones but came up with nothing

    hmmm on the chart the trans pan on a th350 is smaller than the th400 but on my trans i have the cooler lines and the vac*** asembly on the p*** side ...??

    That's right. The 400 has the lines on the p*** side too.

    ok so thats what i got than ...now what transmission is a better one th350 or th400 and why

    A 350 isn't as strong, but are still very strong. If you don't have a super high horse motor, might as well use the 350. They use less hp, and if you go to a 4 speed later, very little has to be changed.
    400's are good too.
