My 1950 buick sits stock and I would like to bring it down, 3 things though, it's a torque tube so if it goes lower does that mess or out tension on the torque tube assembly up front, secondly the rear springs are taper ends so yeah.... And thirdly to anyone who lowered one did it drive the same better worse? Is it worth the look? Thanks Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Thanks for that, Why is front another story? And that doesn't help Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I cut my coils front and rear. The torque tube is designed for the axle travel so there should be no issues there. As for the ride, you will loose some suspension travel and may need to also cut down the bump stops a bit depending on how low you go. If you chose to cut coils, go slow and only cut out a little at a time. I also recommend starting in the rear and then adjust the front to match. I did the opposite and found that I couldn't take out as much in the rear so I ended up with a very slight rake. Not many options if you take to much out of a coil
Another vote for the El Camino springs for the rear. They are less than $100 bucks a pair at NAPA and remember your 50 Springs are now 64 years old and probably have some sag. Then you can cut a 1@ a coil at a time from the front until you get the look you want.
