Hi, I want to lower my 1960 Ford Fairlane. I've already used the search option here, but i can't find anything about it. I've found a few theads about Aerostar coils, but i'm not sure if they will fit my car. Does anyone know if they will fit? Greetings from the Netherlands, Mark
I cut 2 turns out of the front coils and 2" blocks in back....Rode great and was pretty low...............
How much do you want to lower it? Like scrap metal 48 said, you can cut coils and install lowering blocks. Up front, you could also install Ford Granada spindles (1 to 1-1/2" drop + you gain disc brakes), aftermarket dropped spindles, or airbags. Out back, you can do a number of things, from just lowering blocks to a full 4-link airbag setup. You could also remove a leaf, add lowering blocks and 'helper' airbags. This is what I did on my '62 Galaxie. Lots of options! Malcolm
I want to lower it 2.5-3 inches. For the rearend i'll use loweringblocks. But i was wondering if Aerostar coils will fit, because they are a lot stiffer then these old worn out springs. I don't want Granada spindles. I want to keep my drums. Mark
I used Aerostar coils on my 58, they are the same diameter, but a nit shorter. Take one of yours down to the parts store tho compare. Lowered my car 2.5 inches, maybe a bit more. I think they ran me $50 through rockauto.com.
Well, the problem here in The Netherlands is that we don't have much parts (and stores) for USA cars. Allmost everything you'll need here must be ordered from the states. So I want to be sure wich ones will fit.
here are the specs for an aerostar spring, http://www.napaautoparts.com/Search...245_0162311674&An=599001+101990+50028+2028002. and here are the specs for a 60 fairlane, http://www.napaautoparts.com/Search...ing&Ntk=Keyword&N=599001+101960+50026+2026045 I use Napa's website all the time because they always have the specs for most of their parts, they also have direct shipping too.
http://jamcosuspension.com/products/sfID1/73/sfID2/39/sfID3/6 Towards bottom of page. Click on details, and you can choose the amount of drop. When it says "exept Fairlane", I believe they mean the 63-64's.
