Looking for an add-on tube shock kit for 1941 Ford 1/2 ton. How do you measure the axle (ie: 46" , 47 3/4' etc.)? Any recommendations for reasonably priced kits? Thanks

You measure from center of kingpin hole to center of kingpin hole and the same for spring perch holes.

Speedway Motors is probably the most economical except maybe Johnny Law  but you either should buy quality or get the shocks and make your own mounts if at all possible.

I mean eBay may have deals but then you got to figure is it worth it to have to repair or replace shocks and mounts in the near future.

Also another measurement is at the kingpin boss (top to bottom). Some are 2” and some are 2 1/4. Are you positive it is the original axle?

All ‘28-‘48 axles have a 2 3/8” king pin boss. There are differences in perch bosses, ‘32-‘36 are 2”, all others are 2 3/8”.

are you wanting to fit a 4'' dropped axle , with reversed eye spring,
tube shocks, with the split wishbone - extra drop steering arms?

My Model A and not '32-'36 axles measure 2-1/4 at the spring perch boss. I have never seen a 2-3/8" one, on anything but a V8-60 axle.

Correct. Brain fade on my part, I meant to say 2 1/4”. Proof reading is your friend, 2 3/8” only applies to all king pin bosses.

Do not buy from Johnny Law. Part of the Hoffman Group. All junk!
