I haven't signed on to this fine Hot Rod message board in a long long time. So I knew this was the place to see if ya'll have an ideas. As to how I can either apply paint or rustproofing behind the dash on my 1948 Ford F-1 custom now that the final paint job is finished. I know it would have been wise to have my painter do 1st himself. However I was pinchin' pennies & my wife's always after me abt. either my "Damn Truck" or my "Damn Dawg"...Ha! Anyhoo, I've finished all dash wiring and would like to apply something before I place all my gauge panel, switches, etc. back. Sure would be nice if the dash was like my '34 unbolted. Any ideas would be appreciated, LJ Powell W. Palm Beach, Florida C.S.A.
With everything already in its going to be a task. Not sure this would help http://www.eastwood.com/ew-rust-encapsulator-w-ext-nozzle-black.html?reltype=3 From Eastwood. I can only say that the HPC Coating they sell for spraying the inside of headers worked well, but was very runny. Looks like you would have to move alot of items to do it without getting it all over everything else.
I got that Eastwood aerosol, as suggested, with their extension wand nozzle. And like said it's a bit runny to use the way I need behind the dash. Also I wisely tried out Eastwood's extension wand w/360 deg. pattern but not good for interior cab use. However after further surfing' the Web I found a Rodders blog in the UK that said that the Dinol company has a “#17149 has an adjustable noz for 360 or Flat or Straight Spray." After more searching and phone call to Dinol-America in OH who said he doesn't have! I finally found a variable extension wand nozzle for aerosol cans nozzle for sale in UK.@ www.rust.co.uk which has > "SEMI RIGID WAND 600 x 4mm FOR AEROSOL CANS. SPRAY PATTERN 360 o RADIAL FLAT AND FULL CONE FORWARDS.FITS ALL DINITROL CAVITY INJECTION AEROSOL CANS." However they ship out of country; but Not USA.If anyone knows another source for an aerosol can extension wand noz with a Flat or Straight (Full Cone Forward) Spray nozzle please let me know.....Thanks in advance, L J
Don't know if this will help. When I was doing the front sub frame for my wife's Camaro. I brush painted it after sandblasting. But I couldn't get much paint up inside. I went to the local farm supply store and bought the smallest, cheapest pump sprayer with a wand they had. I thinned the POR-15 a little. Using the sprayer I was able to get the paint way up into the frame. And could control the pressure by the number of pumps. Just threw it away when I was done.
Have you seen these products? http://www.kbs-coatings.com/Cavity-Wand-36.html (For spray cans) I used one of these other sprayers with epoxy primer for all the hidden areas, was messy but got great coverage and was way cheaper than a sata cavity spray gun.
