Warbird Digest, finally out on newstands! Lots of pics of the reconfiguration, plus a 2 page article that I wrote on the nose art project! My first mag article!
that is one of the coolest things i've ever seen/heard. what a trip that had to have been to be able to paint nose art on an old bomber. i'll bet you were just pinshing yourself to see if it was real!!
Outstanding work of art. They must just love it. I wish I had your talent great job! My dad flew in a B 24 in WWII. I have his old flight jacket. He was a gunner in the top turret. Those WWII guys were into their art.
-DAMN! Chad!! It would be hard to ever get excited about painting on a car fender, after something like that!!! Hopefully that plane and your work will outlive all of us...
What an honour for you guys,to leave your talented mark,on such a piece of history. It's also an honour for the rest of us,to have you share the experience! Thank You.
Since some people have been asking, here is an update. Late last summer we got to fly in the B-24. Talk about a dream come true! It was amazing. I highly recommend "investing" in a ride because you will never forget it! Pictures from our flight. Some highlights: Me and my Dad... Like I said, it's something you'll never forget.
That's just crazy that you got to fly in it too, I would have been bouncing of the walls with excitement, not to mention the whole time in the hanger must have been great it would have been hard for me not to want to explore the insides of those planes.......JERRY O'CLOCK HIGH!!
My Dad got to fly in B-24s for free. Here's some of the places he visited.............. <TABLE width="100%" border=1><THEAD></THEAD><TBODY><TR><TD><DL><DT>All Missions Flown By: William B. This is awesome. What an honor this must have been. I love the design. I am much better at designing on the computer than by hand. I never thought of using an over head projector to get my designs on something. What a great and obvious idea.
And now she is moving to Dallas! Soon! The B-29A is to follow after an engine change. Go see them on the way back from Roundup.
When i was little kid there was a huge collection of scapped ww2 aeroplanes at the local airfeild,Harvards (t6) Grumman avengers, corsairs etc which us kids would spend hours playing dog fights...living stuff we had seen in black and white movies shown on NZ TV D) and shows like 12 0'clock high. theres one Liberator flying here. http://www.b24australia.com/
Congratulations to all you guys. This is a job of a life time. How often can someone say they painted the nose art of a B-24? My grandfather was a bombardier in a B-24 in the pacific toward the end of WWII. Excellent job fellas! Brian
THATS FRICKEN AWESOME! Ive always wanted to build a fenderless coupe with WWII nose art on the cowl....someday
first time I found this thread - wow - that is some great stuff - I knew there was some history behind the art - but seeing all the work that went into it - and then getting to ride - wow - that is waaaaaay cool.
WOW!!! Just saw this... Great work to you and the crew, Chad! Always thought of doing some art on one of my walls this way. Maybe I'll give it a shot.
