I'm getting ready to wire wheel and blast the floors and trunk of my 49 Chevy and I am trying to deal with the black weatherstrip caulk type stuff that is all over everything. Some of it popped right off but the rest of it is this gooey, rubbery, asphalt type stuff that I can't get off. Anybody know any tricks to stripping it off easily? There's big gobs of it all over.
Some guys I know who road race "modern, small, lightweight, imported cars use dry ice and a screwdriver to get the sound deadener off the floor. They say it works pretty well.
Two words, my man...CRUD THUG. it's expensive...unless your time and knuckles are free. it will remove ANYTHING.
For O/T cars with old body sealer, a 4 inch angle grinder with a twisted wire wheel is an absolute weapon. Wear safety glasses and make sure the second handle is screwed in, you're gonna need it.
