Has anyone replaced the body-to-frame pads on a 46 - 48 Ford tudor sedan? I bought the pads and the bolts kit, and am trying to get an idea how to do it before I starting taking things apart. Many thanks!!
Thanks!! Has had 46 views there, 120 views here, and has been posted on a 3rd forum for over a week and still no replies. I'm thinking someone has replaced these body-to-frame pads at some time or another. It doesn't appear visually to be a big issue, but I figured I'd ask before starting this project.
I would think you replace them the same way I did on two 1940 Ford sedans. You have to start by removing all the body bolts and A removing the body or B raising the body up enough to replace the rubber body mounts. Is simple as it sounds that's the 2 ways I know to accomplish the task. HRP
If I was doing the job I would start by loosening all the bolts then jack up the body one side at a time. Jack it up 1 or 2 inches, take out the old mounts, and put in the new ones. Be sure to put all the shims back where they came out. While doing this be careful of any parts connecting the body to the frame like the emergency brake cable or fuel tank pipe. Also be careful of the front end, it is not bolted onto the body that tight. It will need its own jack.
