Whoa, it isn't in there yet, this was just step 4-A, the part where we saw if it would even fit, and what it would and wouldn't clear. There is still quite a bit left to do, but, to be honest, it really looked like it will fit ALOT easier than any of us thought.
Too bad the camera was absent for my trimphant ****** crossmember toss!

What year is the motor? What kind of motor mounts did you use? I have been wanting to do a 440 in the '55 plymouth I am getting.

Hmmm...digging through an old box of car junk yesterday, I found a brand new set of big block (FE) motor mounts that I forgot I had....something to keep in mind if I ever decide to upgrade to big block power in the old Chevy!!!

Cool post...looks like fun! [IMG] [IMG]

So it fit, huh? I guess you won't have to recess the firewall six inches like I had to in the wayfarer. I drove my car for the first time since September last week and man, I forgot how much torque those bit chryslers make. So-cheap, you're going to have one fun ride. I hope that my explainations and pictures on the motor and ****** mounts helped you out, if you need anything else, let me know.

Excellent...... I didn't think that would be hard on my '52 Biz-Niz Coupe, but now I'm fairly stoked!

On a similar note, we swapped a slant-six and three speed stick into my friend's '50 Dodge Coronet this weekend. Only required minor t*******, and it'll fun to open the hood and scream "OH NO!!! My motor fell over!" [IMG]

El Scotto, isn't your body the same style as the '49-'51 and not the '53-'54 style? If it is, it takes alot of work to make it fit. I've got a '49 wayfarer with the 440 and it was a ***** to get that motor in there. I think if I had it to do over again, I would have gone with mopar's 360 crate motor, but then again, that built 440 makes it fly. Makes alot of noise too, but makes it fly.

Its a '52 so I'm not sure. It will fit; we're taking off the body so we can do the frame, suspension, and install the motor, do rust repair on the floorpans, then trial and error dropping the body on.

Yeah there is still much work to do.
First of all I still need a center sump
pan and oil pick up. I missed one on
ebay that was really cheap too.

The motor is a 78 with 28K miles. We are
fabing the motor mounts. Much thanks to
Wayfarer. He sent me some info and pics on that.

Deyo! Thanks again for your help. Especially
the trans cross member. That was a *****!

We are still looking at how it is going to
fit with the steering box. We won't know
until we get the other pan on and really
    set it down there.

This was really just a test run to see what
problems we were going to run into. So Far
    it looks pretty good.

The CHICK is Becky. She is a model and likes
    to get greasy too.

Thanks to All who came over to help. It was
    a great turn out.

PS DEYO, you left too early. A 52 Merc showed
up (Patricks) and then Mikey's Model A Sedan
showed. We went for a wild ride and nearly blew
the motor! HAHA. I'll have to get some pics
    up of his car.

El Scotto, it's the same body style as my car, I looked at your pic. I can tell you it's going to be a pain to get in there, but it will fit if you recess the firewall and trim the inner fenders. I've done the deed, so if you need suggestions or pictures let me know. It's fun to see people's reactions, when they ask you what kind of motor you've got. I think everyone expects to hear "small block chevy". So-Cheap, if you can't fit it in there with the steering box, you can convert the stock suspension to rack and pinion with a kit from PlyDo. I think I told you about it before, but I'm not sure. Well, back out to the garage, I'm fixing a leak in my gas line, so I've got the car up on jack stands, if you need any pictures from below, let me know.

Do you write Chilton's manuals? You forgot: step one should be "Disconnect positive battery cable..." [IMG]

**** Phil, it only takes a photo to realize how BALD I really am!

Phil's got some pics of this Becky as a blonde on his St. Valentine's day site. One pic features her boyfriend, a real nice (and LUCKY) guy.

search for so-cheap's posts about mounting the engine and transmission. He has two posts about it and I included just about every picture I have with a detailed description. Just click on his name and click on view all users posts. Check them out and see if you have any more questions.

Wayfarer, any pics would be great, if it's not too late.

MercMan1951, In this case it would be the negative cable. [IMG]

plmczy - I'll ask her the next time she comes over to clean my block. [IMG] (engine block that is)

    Deyo, It's ALL gone.

bulletproof1 - We are going to fabricate the mounts. I'll take pictures for ya.
