I'm going to go look at a model T frame tomorrow. Price is right but I'm not sure what I am looking at. It is just the frame, and front and rear axles. I have been told it is a truck frame. How do i tell the difference between a T or TT frame? The owner doesn't seem to have a clue to what he has so he is no help. Thanks Dustin p.s. I tried the search ****on and google. No answers.
A Model T frame, regardless of the year, will be the same width c-channel the length of the frame. A Model TT frame is heavier steel and the frame rail height tapers toward the front. As well, a TT frame will be significantly longer and the rear crossmember is wider to provide for a wider leaf. The rear spring itself is different too, being that there is no center section to a TT spring.
A "T" frame rail has a height of three inches that tapers to two inches at the front and rear. A "TT" frame has across section height of about five inches, and tapers much less than the regular "T".
YOU can pick up a T frame by yourself and very easily walk away with it. YOU cannot pick up a TT frame by yourself and walk away with, drag it maybe, but not hold it up and walk with it.
