Jason maybe you can help me..

i want to make a drawing from the bracket for the bed but in need to know of i understand it correct..

Damm.. i wish it was easy i have to read it and read it back...

but to be honest too dificult to understand that you have a 3x3 3/16 on top of the tube i still understand...

please check the drawing..

This is a great idea - if people could contribute measurements and plans, perhaps we could do an "open source" set of drawings and put them online for all to freely use.

Wouldn't it be interesting if some of these brackets had slotted holes in the top where the cab mounted, to allow for all kinds of different cabs to be mounted?

Or, if that's not safe, the tops of the brackets for the beds or cab, etc could be left undrilled. You'd have to do that yourself per your own application?

After putting this online as a virtual kit, how much time would pass before others jumped on the bandwagon and started submitting drawings of their own, for specific applications (like Fords, or Mopars, etc)?

Wouldn't it be nice to have a list of parts from these kits, so that we could make our own, but different enough so we wouldn't be sued?

And I use the term "open source" to the fullest of it's meaning...

Yeah or on top make it open but also with holes so people ca make a plate for it for example en the bolt it on top so the can make there own personal bracket...

That would allow them to make a bracket on a workbench, then just bolt it on!

a Workbench.... i realy not hope sooo..

but it is a idea.. i was too weeks ag in a Lowe's in Hamilton Jersey because i needed bolts i was never in suchs a big shop.... they realy have everyting needed and it was soo cheap.. it was my first time in the usa.. but we are already planning for may 2009 3weeks california

i need to know the distance from the front of the rail until the first bracket

and then the distance to the second bracket...

I already did..they are just lo-res scans...I have decided to go the full chassis swap with the 47 more door Ford I just dragged home...going to look at a chassis next weekend that will come home with me if its not too rusty!!

How far is it from the center of your front wheels to the center of front cab mount? And I was also wondering how much clearance there was from the bottom of your running boards and the bottom of your frame? Any information would be appreciated.

more info on the firewall insert, other brackets (bumper, steering column, pedals, etc), wheel base correctors, anything at all really. im going to do this frame swap on a 53 chevy truck and am trying to make sure i know what exactly has to be done so i can hopefully make a pretty quick project out of it
