FENTON GYROS 15 x 3 and one half wide 003.JPG SCORED THESE WHEELS AT EDGEWATER MUSCLE CAR SWAP MEET/DRAGS THIS WEEKEND.
HOW CAN ANYONE LET A PAIR OF FENTON GYRO 15 x 3 1/2 WIDE GET SO GRUNGEY ON THE BACKSIDE????
THAT IS ROAD GRUNGE, NOT BLACK PAINT!!!!
I USED GAS, THEN HAND CLEANER AND BR*** BRUSH AND SOS PADS TO REMOVE BUILD UP.
WHEELS ARE ACTUALLY IN REALLY GOOD CONDITION....I JUST CAN'T UNDERSTAND HOW SOMEONE LETS THIS HAPPEN.
THE DARK COLOR IN THE WINDOWS IS GRUNGE, NOT PAINT!!! AT LEAST SOMEONE KEPT THE FACE/ FRONT SIDE WIPED OFF.
TRYING TO POST PICS, HAVE HAD PROBLEM SINCE NEW HAMB OPENED. FENTON GYROS 15 x 3 and one half wide 001.JPG FENTON GYROS 15 x 3 and one half wide 001.JPG FENTON GYROS 15 x 3 and one half wide 004.JPG

I can't understand how someone uses gas to clean things.

I use cleanser and a stiff brush to clean the backside of wheels of brake and road junk.

I STARTED WITH GAS TO TRY TO CUT THE GRUNGE, WHEN EVERYTHING STARTED RUNNING ON TO THE TIRES IN ABOUT 10 MINUTES I WENT TO GRITTY HAND CLEANER. THIS HAD TO BE YEARS OF AC***ILATION.

  5. Sorry, could you type a little louder, I still can't hear you :D

  6. There probably are as many asking who gives a **** about the back side of a wheel. LOL On a fendered daily driver, I guess the back side wouldn't be real important to me. Can't say I've ever deliberately pulled a wheel to clean the back side.

That was my thought. I am just happy to keep the front side clean.

Why are you yelling?,,all cap locks.

The ac***ulation on the back side of the wheels is road grime and brake dust that has been diluted over the years with different weather conditions, rain, mud, snow and slush.

I don't know anyone that pulls the wheels off their car and cleans the back. HRP

  9. Look, someone actually drove his car and didn't feel like taking the tires off once a month to clean part of it you can't normally see.

Maybe a leaking axle bearing or wheel cylinder and the guy was a faiithful tire rotator.A sm steam cleaner would work.

Try some Eagle One "Mag Wheel Cleaner"but wear gloves. It will etch the aluminum a little and leave a dull matt finish. Works great on oxidized aluminum. If that does'nt work maybe it's time for a gl*** bead blast for an even finish.

So, you're not a candidate for Ryan's writer database?:D No one cleans the back of wheels, except fenderless car guys and gold chainer detail shops.. My car's fenderless and I only do it twice a year. I think. May have missed doing it last year. On a black rim, it's REAL easy to ignore. I'm ignoring it even as I type.

Keep after them religiously--if you clean them every day when returning to the garage, it's easy, except for one thing: HOW do you get the taste of road grunge out of your toothbrush??

I would think the edge of the wheel would be black also, I'm thinking it's paint.

That's what the backside of the factory alum rims on my 8 year old daily look like.

I actually have a friend that removes the wheels and cleans the back side. He has even removed the tail lights to polish the inside. And that is on a regular daily driver nothing special.

why? he was too busy keeping it running, paying bills, keeping the wife happy, raising kids, redoing the kitchen, dealing with his a-hole boss, a neighbor who complained about the noise from his garage, visiting his mom, a brother-in-law who can't tie his own shoes, bad knees, bad back, i don't know.....pick one.
could be worse, they could have been painted red

God forbid someone drive their ride and enjoy it..... I barely clean the top side, no need to worry on the bottom side. Nice score on the wheels however.

  30. I usually pull the headers loose, insert tennis balls (smothered in Mothers polish) in each tube, bolt them back on and fire it up. This I do on the same schedule as polishing the inside of my wheels...
