...which ones do you read and why?

One of my favorites so far is the one from France that looks like a little skate zine we used to make back in the day called " Rolls and Pleats"...great pics, show coverage and stories and fits in your back pocket!
I also like "the Rodders Journal" for the quailty of content," 'ol School Rodz " for shows and lifestyle and Garage magazine for the art and stories:)

I agree with you on everything but OSR. I don't care for that one at all.

I am also partial to Mag-neto and Kustoms Illustrated.

Yep, Speed N Chrome is an upcoming mag...issue # 4 is now out...gets better every issue..covers nearly every aspect of the "sport"...not necessarily HAMB types, but entertaining.

Kustoms Illustrated is a dynamite little mag...

    Garage Magazine, for obvious reasons!

  7. Among the mags that I enjoy are Lead News, REV, Cruisin, Dice, Newsledder, Primer, Stickshift, Jammin Gears, Wizz, Burnout, Shop Rag and Smokin Shutdown.

Rolls and Pleats, just to see whats going on around the world.Plus cars you dont normally see .
Hop Up,all around great cars, writing and so on.
OSR,dont care for it .To many mistakes on very simple things like years, makes of cars and parts, but thats not to say it will not get better!
    Magneto,love it.One of the best.Plus it's a east coast mag.

Yeah OSR is definitely a "lifestyle" magazine alright.

The should call it "Posedown at the scenesterville corral", or "cars - the ultimate rockabilly fashion accessory".

HOP UP - nostalgic, content, great pics (do i even need to explain???)
    R&C - overall excellant read
rodders journal - great pics, content, & read
CK deluxe - covers things i can afford to build
OSR - tech is cool but i feel stupid reading the tough guy greezer crap and some of their feature cars are pieces of shit.

    books
-Gasser Wars and few Lakes books which cover historical facts
-numerous Chiltons manuals, Welding guides, Engine Buildup Manuals etc... i like picking up random tech knowledge, never know when it will come in handy
-Machinery Handbook - a must have
    -my Pops old Engineering books

I read different ones daily, small tidbits here and there then try to apply what i learned when possible.

yah, and SHOP RAG for its kickass content... the one issue.. hah

The only ones I'm 'loyal' to, are the ones I can't find at the newstand. If I can find it locally, I can see if there's anything in it that I'm interested in. I've always hated waiting for the next issue of something to show up, then when it finally arrives, there's nothing inside I like. I like good pictures, and simple tech. I hate the tech articles that don't use common tools.
~R&C - good blend of everything
~CKD - Got me back into the hobby I got out of years ago
~R&P - Like to see the stuff from across the pond
~Hot Rod - once in a while there's something I like in it
~Parts Catalogs - Cause I need stuff! [IMG]

  15. I don't read much in the way of new magazines. I have access to a ton of old stuff, so that's where my money goes.

If anyone is interested in particular issues from the late 40's on, let me know and I'll put you in touch w/ the man.

  16. If Lead News was good, Iron will be better! But I’m a bit partial there...

Hop Up Annuals - Perfect Rod & Custom combination
TRJ - Good but was better in the PG days
Rolls & Pleats - Getting better for each issue
    Garage - Great lay out
    Kustoms Illustrated - My competitor...

Ol skool? For the posers, a waste of money

  20. Hot Rod, the original ones, from the beginning though the mid sixties. The advertisements are as cool as the articles. Lot's to be learned about how and why things used to be done the way they were. Some ideas are cool and others were just plain scary. One big thing I've learned is just because it might have been done back in the day doesn't mean it was a good idea. The half baked stuff is really is in the minority though and it is fun to see the good with the bad.

Actually it's the best hotrod DVD i've seen so far, haven't seen many though:(
And i liked what you covered in it and it had a lot of variety, i just think you went off a little on the editing and the transitions from scene to scene when basic cross fading works just as good or fast edit cuts. I've worked on many skate videos over the years... so that's why i noticed that and when you work on videos besides just watching them, those are the things you notice sometimes... how they are put together and not just what the content is inside the DVD film.
Hey... i give you an "A" for a job we'll done, just letting you know my opinion on the editing and sometimes less... is more [IMG]
best wishes and i can't wait to view the next one...good stuff!

    Wrench,Magneato,Rolls and Pleats,The Horse magazine,etc.

Basicly, anything far enough outside the mainstream that it is not available at Barnes and Noble,
and not driven strictly by the advertisers.

I like that Dice magazine as far as newer ones, I like most of em though. They all have good and bad points.

OL SKOOL RODZ did a feature on nummnutz sedan so it's obvious they have poor quality control. HaHa

Max Wedge is starting a DvD called
    "The Mad Masterbaters Society"

I like R&C, CK Deluxe, Hop Up, rolls and pleats and old, old Hot Rod. Haven't seen Magneto or Kustoms Ill. yet.
I read Ol Skool Rodz 'cause a guy at work brings 'em in. It has some decent stuff in it but they take alot of gay pictures of stupid shit and their lingo is whacked.
