I'm a short fat sum*****. 5 8" I have to slide my *** in with my belt strategically located at the wheel elevation for extra clearance but I would not change wheels for anything. I have Dunlop disease. My belly done lopped over my belt. It seems to be a common affliction for us older farts. I just took it to extremes.:D

  2. No offense I'm only about 5-10 or 11 and 180. But I have had some rather large friends (a lot of them chicks ) and have some experience with the whole 5th dimension concept.

You slide the seat back as far as possible and don't use on with a thick backrest. For legroom build a toe box that extends forward and down.

32s are a large roadster in the whole scheme of things not like an A or a '27. I did help build an A tub for a pro-football player back a few years. It started as a 2 door sedan. Leg room wasn't an issue but this guy was wide. We widened the cowl (and the rest of the tub) 3 inches, sounds a little backwards for a rod but if you can't make the item fit the package make the package fit the item.

Anyway I'm sorry that you are so big. Please don't get mad at me for being a squirt.

Losing weight ain't gonna make him shorter! & 225 is not an unhealthy weight for someone who is 6 foot plus. When I was 19 I worked in a feed mill & I am 6 foot 1 inch and weighed (at the time) about 305. wasn't too much of it fat either. Physical work will add lots of m*** to you without adding fat. I could (at one point - not anymore:eek:) lift an eighty pound bag of feed with each arm at the same time. That came from moving - by hand - several tons of bagged feed each day. some big guys are heavier than they look too. A friend of mine is 6 foot 6 and he can pick me up with one arm and I currently am around 280. He works on farm tractors & has earned the muscle to go with it. He looks skinnier than me.

I'm just saying don't jump on a guy with comment like that on a public forum. Not cool IMO. you don't know him or his situation so a comment like that could be construed as a personal attack.

back on topic, as most of the guys have stated, seat position is the most important part. If you are currently building this car use couch cushions, pillows, folded blankets etc to determine a comfortable seating position before building a seat. Don't settle for "I think that will be OK". Make sure it is comfortable, if it is not you will not enjoy driving the car. after the seat is worked out then work on the column position. A tilt will help a bunch in that situation. Have someone help with this so you can sit in the car for a while to see how it feels.

  4. I have never tried it but couldn't a tilt column be put in so it tilts in toward the center of the car .. then when it tilted down its in the right place ????

ford had swing away on something .. t-birds?..
a tilt telescopic woud help too I have one from a 70's buick I plan on using

I am 6-5 350lbs it is a struggle to get into my channeled chopped A coupe body .... hopefully my gl*** 32 3 window will be accessable or the roof comes off.

    ok,

this is a westcott stock type body, car is already built and it is nice. the column has already been rotated so that when tilted up it moves up toward the center of the car like it should for access.

Randy, could i get a shot or two of the seat bottom and back of yours for a reference???

and FYI i just had my annual physical and my dr would love for me to loose some lbs, but i carry it pretty damn well.

I'm 6'2", 260 lbs.... I say if your happy with your weight, **** what skinny people say.

As a big guy, a pogo stick sounds logical to me

Seriously in my old 32 coupe with a 3" chop it was a little tighter than I would have liked. Shove the column as far forward as possible, angle to the side... and **** in the ol gut, bend the knees, do burn outs!!

Or even worse a chopped and channeled pickup.

  9. The "huge guy" that bought my Roadster did this... Bomber seats with a thin Medical gel pad upholstered with Hounds Tooth panels!

Got his eye level below the top of the windshield frame plus he ca stretch out his legs when the Cruise control is on.

Otherwise this is how a 5' 11" 210 lb. guy gets in and out...
