I got a bad link to the HAMB off of Club Hot Rod and I read through hundreds of threads trying to find the one from the link, never went back to CHR. First thing I read on the HAMB was a mile long thread about Lukester picking up a willys truck from down south, and I thought geez, what are these guys smoking? Waited a while to sign up, then finally did, and posted pics of the Train Wreck. Lots of guys had gotten torn new assholes for posting similar stuff, but most people were pretty constructive with their comments to me. That must have been the beginning of the new warm and fuzzy HAMB, the one I like.
I guess I date back to the HR Deluxe board that Aaron was doing and the links from there to Kustoms by TSR (Killer) and the HAMB, started farting about importing magazines and stuff and it all went down hill from there the international deal here is one of the best things its awsome having folks from Australisia to Scandinavia and everwhere in between posting tech and questions and answers and I have traded stuff with some kool folks here too. I now get withdrawls from the place.......
During my searching thru that desert we call the internet for scraps of information about Cadillac Flatheads, I discovered this oasis of learning and philosophy. I'm Damn glad to be here, and just hope I can help the team.
I think I Googled something about hot rods. Oh yeah, I was looking for a board like this. I was pretty lucky, I found the best one right away. At the time I really wanted to build a car and was looking for info. I lurked a bit before registering, then pretty much lurked after that. Honestly, I don't really have anything to add besides "Wow, that's cool" - type replies. I've been into 4x4's and F-bodies since I was in high school, but all I know about hot rods and customs is what I'm learning here, and what I've read in R&C, Hot Rod, and the Rodder's Journal. I got back into the Jeep thing for a while, and kind of forgot about the board. Lately though, I've been wanting to get back into cars, so here I am. Still a poser with no car though.
I would see the link on alot of Hot Rod and Kustom Kulture web sites, So one day I checked it out and thought all the information and pics of all the members cars was great.
I was looking for lunch meat. Really I saw the write up in Hot Rod about the 3 guys with the little rpu dragster.
Hop Up and Kustoms By TSR websites back in 02. Been here daily ever since, greatest thing since....well ever. =]
I was looking for a web site for the Ty-Rods of Massachusetts. Because I was looking for the original owner of my t-bucket. It was at there 1991 annual picnic. and when I googled TY-RODS one of the listing was a thread from the H.A.M.B. and thats how I got here............
I was here kinda from the begining then I went off to other places.. Then I came back . Remember these god dam computers aren the only thing in life Dave
I was hunting for pictures of the Earl family (Oxnard) straight 8 Buick race cars - still am, for that matter. I'll bet anything a couple members know where they are ... Thanks to everyone involved for making us feel at home .... 302
Found out about it by 5051. He's my buddy now and lives near me. I've told many guys about the HAMB. Best thing I've ever joined. Great people, car people.
I found this site many years ago (at least '97)... http://www.acs.ucalgary.ca/~mdsiewer/sr.html In '99 I saw his link to this site and lurked for a couple years before signing in. Felt that I had to have a car so that I wouldn't be GERM'D tm
I was told by two flathead boards that I belonged here with the other assholes. Don't often get such recognition as that. Oh, I still go to the other two boards, I like recognition!!
I lurked for a long time and called it a NERD board (which it is). My first post was to defend myself from someone who helped with Billetproof. He VOLUNTEERED to work, sat on his ass all day long (literally), got a bunch of free shit and his car in for free. Then he got on here and bitched about working hard and only getting a T-shirt in return. Neither were true. That was the beginning of the end of my relationship with that friend and club. Since then I have had to recant my previous comments about the lameness of the HAMB because I have received a TON of great knowledge here and have been able to tell the right people about Billetproof. There are still lots of whiney fucks here who get their pussies hurt (I have been one a few times), but the good FAR outweigh the bad.
I am a fan of the old "jalopy races" and found this place one day when I was in the middle of a Google search on jalopies. Since I was right in the middle of building my '35 sedan.....I hung around and soaked up great info like a sponge. Now that we finished Flower's roadster with the help of this place I have to hang around forever.
I heard about it through Anthony White aka 00MACK. I've been hooked ever since. This is the coolest website ever!
Around 2000, I was looking for something and the HAMB came up. I read a little, that following weekend I was helping a friend on his car when he asked if I had ever heard of the HAMB, I said yeah, I was just reading some stuff the other night. He signed on right away, I lurked for severl years before I was convinced to join a couple of months ago. I have spent too much time on here for the last several years. The positive side is the great information I've gathered, and most of all I'm delighted with the people I have met. J.
Came over during the WWW flame war with RRT. Joined under a different name but lost interest after a while due to the drama/usefull info ratio at the time. When things got less dramatic i rejoined under this name...
I went into Rods Plus in Racine, WI to pick up a Model A frame. I met CheaterCarl (Urbaniak) who was working there. He told me about the HAMB and the Cheater-A-Rama. I have been hooked on both ever since, although I did lurk here for about a year before signing up.
