How'd I Do??

Ok fellas, just picked up this 59AB with trans for 400.00! Guy said it had a little over 12k miles on it before he removed it for an upgrade. It has been sitting for years though. It's not stuck! Is it worth what I paid for it?

 

If it's really in good shape you did ok. I don't everypay more for a used flathead than s**** unless they let me pull the heads ....But since it turns over you have a pretty good chance it's a good one.

 

What was the CID on these engines, HP, etc.?

 

24 stud is 239 cubic inches...85hp

same here....never over pay unless the heads and pan comes off. I need to see the surfaces. Doesn't mean they are still not cracked but not seeing them is a real big gamble.
You'll know if you did well when you magnaflux it.

Stock these are 239 ci motors.
Stock HP is 100.

 

34-41 221 V8 are 85HP.
39-48 239 V8 are 100HP.

Got a guy on the hook for 800.00, I think I'm gonna flip it and stay with the Banger!!
