Hot Rods How'd they do it... Hydra-matic in a ‘39-‘40 Ford?

Finally ditching the 350TH and installing a Hydro-Motive 4 speed behind my 301 Chevy build. I'm started to see what kind of work is in front of me and brought up several issues. I don't mind cutting the X-member and widening but fighting an issue where pedal pivot is right where my shifter and TV linkage needs to be. Brake can move toward my column a little, there is also the left foot brake option. I could go to a firewall swing assembly but that could be another mess unless there is a clean way to do it. Seems like this would have been a swap covered in little pages years ago. Curious what others have done. a IMG_0617.jpg b IMG_0606.jpg c IMG_0607.jpg

Here's my plan so far, pedal bend and move toward the rail. I want to make sure there is enough room to pull the sidepan if needed and allow for all the linkage and B&M shifter. just wondered what our rodding forefathers had done before I start cutting.

There was a guy on the HAMB that went by daveyduece who owned a '40 coupe with an early Hydro behind a blown Cadillac; but I see he's no longer on the member list... dangit.
