I have to laugh, "Killer wheels", and other comments.
These are stock Model T Ford wheels!
The windshield is the top half of the stock windshield cut off the stock full height posts, the lower windshield post down to the mount section removed and the upper section welded(more likely brazed) on.
The stock headlamps have been lowered.
Those lower panels are for additional "eyeball" dropping of the car over the modified suspension.

    I hate to **** on that car....cause like I said, I like it....but....

It was likely painted BECAUSE the parts he used still had paint on them.

At least thats how I see it.

As an Old Fart, I'll point out that the car has no parts below the scrub line.

If you're ever curious, ask an Old Fart about the Old Days. Or keep reading Ol' sKool Rat rodz for your ideas about the old dayZ.

But don't ask me. That car is way before my time. Sure is *****en, ain't it?

Wow that thing kicks ***.I've always wanted to do my grandfathers old car as my family started rodding in around 1931 my grandpa bought a '28 Whippet roadster for $1 and they transplanted a 1913 Moon rearend with a pontiac ring gear on it into the car had they head milled as my greatuncle was going to a Machinist school at the time then put on a 1930 Willys-Knight Six cylinder carb and said the car ran hard for the time the rearend howled like a "werewolve" and in there words said," it would out run any damned ford V-8 at the time in '32"I've seen pictures of this car and it was cool sat a little funny in the rear but was a Damn neat car and to have out run the newfangled Ford V8 with a little old 4 banger to them was a big deal. Wish I could find a whippet roadster but they are rare I looked at a sedan a few years back but all I want is to recreate this car for some fun and to remember take my great uncle for a ride in the thing.

Great gow job! I love these so-called protorods! The photo once again proves that hotrodding didn't start in 1955, or 1950, or 1946, or even 1939. And this is one of the most eye-pleasing examples that I've seen of the early rods. The 33 shell (Isn't it a 34? I don't see any concavity.) really works in conjunction with the laid back windshield. I sure would like to see the engine!

BTW, I think that the description is supposed to say "planetary transmission".

  7. Look it gots dubbs. :D

It was probably the fastest car in the neighborhood, and no doubt the coolest. But I don't understand where did the gloss paint come from?

Pretty slick old hot rod for sure.

Sorry for the devisive comments, Kurt. I just p***ed a birthday and was feeling like I wanted to defend "Old Farts" everywhere. Birthday was yesterday. I'm OK now.

I hope I didn't hurt Kutthroatkustoms feelings. But I couldn't resist after seeing the words old dayz.

I'll be kinder and gentler now.

I'm trying to be kinder and gentler too. I posted a Tech thread cause I've been telling too many people off lately.

Chili, I love you. Hug me. :D

This car rules....and I'd really like to see more pics of it.

    Its a cool thread too.

Great looking car. The combination of grille, windshield, hood, headlights, wheels (all in shiny paint) looks remarkably modern. I've never seen another early T that was even remotely similar, or that has used a later grille to such good effect.

The "ground effects kit" side panels are pretty crude, but they definitely muscle up the side view of the car. Apparently the builder ran out of ideas when he got to the back of the bucket -- just let everything come to a dead stop, and stuck the spare into the void.

    KINDER???
    GENTLER???

you two man-girls had better get back to what you do best. TELL THEM THE TRUTH!!!

    ahem.

    sorry.

nice car! yep...it's shiny. Lacquer paint buffs up easy enough, fellas.

and I agree that since the ford factory paint mantra was "any color you want...as long as it's black" I can imagine it was pretty easy to track down painted parts...or find some paint that matched what he modified. kinda one of those "I found a fender the exact same color as the rest of my car, so I just bolted it on" type deals.

not saying that there isn't a pretty good chance that he either had it re-painted or did it himself.

now, if it were shiny white...we'd know something magic happened.

Wasn't there an accessory overdrive/transmission unit called the "Planetor"? Sort of like the "Jumbo" that bolted onto the hogshead, but giving a high range like a Columbia axle would. I'll check my Clymer books, there's gotta be an ad for one in there somewhere.

Anyone figure out what that is on the top-rear of the hood, inline with the added spear-moulding?

Big cookie for the first one that gets it right ;)

    (notice the shifter handles location?)

    I love this little hop-up!

Looks like a seventy year old "tuner" car to me. I meant that in a good way. Boys have been playing with cars since cars were invented.

I looked this photo up on it's source at the Model T Club of America web site, and it is identical to the picture on their forum. There is no reason that I can see that anyone would have photoshopped that picture for that site.

The owner is named as Bob Cressey. He is 92 years old and still driving his 1911 Touring T that he restored himself. But since flatheadhero doesn't have his name listed on this site (that I can find), I don't know if he is the person who posted the photo on the Model T site.

Looks like a 1919 chevy phaeton, there was one at the puyallup swap last weekend with the back removed and was sitting on the woody wheels with cut down motorcycle rims, quarter eliptics all four corners stock and half a windshield. Running, he wanted $4000.00

Here's a somewhat similar style T from a period photo in my collection. It's not quite as evolved as the Bob Cressney T gow job, though.

Rat Rod my ***. This thing has a decent fit and finish, some semblance of an interior, and he took the time to get the hood to fit the 33 grill. He must have painted the hood after modifying it. The rat rods I have seen are rusted up to the door handles with all manor of junk hanging on them from ill fitting tractor grills to rought iron cow catchers! :D

This picture did appear on the MTFCA site, I did not post it. I did decide to share it on here though. I do know who Bob is, and happen to be in the same club. I will ask him for more info on the car next time I see him. I have something that I am building in my "shop" based on a Model T Ford too.

  29. Try not to ****yze the thing too much... it's cool because he built it in 1935... NOT because he got the grille shell leaned back the "perfect" amount and had the "perfect" rake on the windshield.

In 1935 it was a ten year old car that he bolted a modern grille shell too, painted it black, and hopped up the motor.

    Sam.

Yeah, somewhat true, but there were a lot of hopped up cars built circa 1935 that were NOT as cool looking. [Reference the photo that I posted, for example.] This is kinda like saying that the Vic Edelbrock duece is just cool because it was built circa 1939. No, the Edelbrock duece is cool because it has "the look", and set a standard.
