Always had a soft spot for that car. I believe it started out as Tex Smiths idea for a "penny-a-pound" roadster. If I remember correctly it won AMBR honors when finished. A piece of history for sure.
[ QUOTE ] Didn't it start out as a 27? I like it. [/ QUOTE ] It was originally started as a 27 roadster body but it didn't fit the design parameters so a new body was constructed from scratch. That car(to me anyway)IS America's most beautiful roadster bar none!I still have a model I built of it years ago(along with the box art).I would probably mortgage my house(or do a hit) for that car but then I wouldn't be able to enjoy it.I'd also drive the s**t out of it!
I have a magazine with that car on the cover in front of a F104 Star Fighter! (Great Cover Shot) The body was hand made of aluminum and it won "The most Beautiful Roadster" that year. $15,000 would be a "steal" of a price!
