I am trying to find a supplier for these caps. They are going on a set of artillery wheels I have. I picked up this one at a swap meet a while back they appear to be an aftermarket cap made to replace a Chevrolet cap with only part of the bow tie. I found another one at a swap that was an original Chevrolet with the complete bow tie but since these will be run on my Ford I really would like to find the aftermarket type. They are 7 5/8" across. I would also like to know of any other cap that would fit in its place.

  2. They look very similar to the aftermarket hubcaps I adapted to my 32's mag wheels.

The larger cap is also a re-pro and about the same size as stock Ford hubcaps which are around 9" or so and the smaller hubcap is about 7"+.

Same kind of retainment snaps/v's or whatever you want to call them.

Sold by aftermarket steel wheel suppliers.

Originally intended for aftermarket spoke wheels with the small diameter wheel cent for this style cap.

Guessing here, but I don't think you're gonna be able to pop them on Artillery Wheels without an adapter of some kind.

You are correct C9. I have both of the caps you have pictured and the wire caps are way too small and the others are too big. They are the same artillery wheels that Nimrod runs on his roadster and he adapted the F1 style caps to his but I was hopping to find a supplier for these and just pop them on and go. :)

A flea market item. It is an early reproduction hub cap from the 40s or 50s?? They were afraid to use the Chevrolet logo so they used something close. These were not made for restorations but sold as replacements for the average motorist.

30 years ago we used to see them often and nobody wanted them. They also made 48 Ford copies with rectangles for the letters. They go back a long way and probably will be hard to find.

  5. You might try looking up a company caled Del-Met or maybe they spelled it Delmet.
It's been almost 25 years since I used to buy their products.
My dad's used car lot used those hub caps and wheel covers Del-Met produced way back in the 50's.
They always fudged the emblem to look close but not exact to the company's logo.
Their stuff looked good for about 2 years then rusted to hell on our North East salty roads.
Del -Met was the king of mickey mouse wheel covers!

You can see them in all of the '60s/'70s J.C. Whitney catalogs.

FWIW here is a pic of the caps on the wheels. I have two nice ones and two pitted ones I would like to find two more or I guess I will have to see about having the pitted ones rechromed.
