Anyone in the New Orleans area have a hub puller for a 1929 Plymouth? I am pretty sure the model TT one will work as well. thanks
I would really hate to buy one, for two tires, but I’ve been battling these things for about 2 1/2 hours. How much are you asking?
So, I ***ume you are working on the tapered rear axle hubs? The ‘31/32 Dodge operators booklet I had, showed a a “nut” that screwed on to the axle (after removing the retaining nut) then you jacked up the opposite side you wanted to take off, just enough to get the tire in the air. Then walked to the other side and smacked the end of the nut while that tire is on the ground. This was to shock the axle from the taper. The illustration I saw in the booklet got me to thinking, so (as I recall) the axle on my ‘32 was 3/4 fine thread, maybe it was 1/2 inch. Been awhile. so I took a 3/4 nut and bolt, screwed it 1/2 way into the threads on the nut and welded the bolt to the nut. Then did as the booklet said, whacked it with a 5 pound sledge, popped right loose I tightened the “nut” thing I made really tight so as not to damage the threads. This was in the late ‘90s, the old dry rotted rag tires were slick as snot, so the wheels (wood spoked) may have been on there for 65+ years. As the inners were rarely changed, the spare was just a hoop with a tire on it that bolted to the inner wheel. Hope that made sense, if not PM me and this weekend I can fashion something up and take a few pics for you.
Thanks budget36. Knocking the opposite side actually did the trick. Man that thing was on there. Thanks
