  7. I'll stick with "Wheel Cover"

A hubcap or hub cap is a decorative disk on an automobile wheel that covers at minimum the central portion of the wheel, called the hub.[1] An automobile hubcap is used to cover the wheel hub and the wheel fasteners to reduce the accumulation of dirt and moisture. It also has the function of decorating the car.[2]

A hubcap is technically a small cover over the center of the wheel, while a wheel cover is a decorative metal or plastic disk that snaps or bolts onto and covers the entire face of the wheel.[3]

Cars with stamped steel wheels often use a full-wheel cover that conceals the entire wheel. Cars with alloy wheels or styled steel wheels generally use smaller hubcaps, sometimes called center caps.

Alternatively, a wheel cover or spare tire cover can be an accessory that covers an external rear-mounted spare tire found on some automobiles.

    Starfire, not Fiesta ...
Even Oldsmobile has confused the nomenclature since late '55.

as I remember......56 were hotter than 55's or 57's according to family LAPD friend

    ....or....... are they nave plates...???o_O

Hub caps only cover the central part of the wheel (hub and lug nuts).
Wheel covers extend to the edge of the rim, covering the entire wheel.

BS everyone here knows that whether the item covers the wheel bolts or the whole wheel it can be called a hubcap or a wheelcover. either is a flat piece of metal that fixes to a wheel.

Anyways, the OP got his answer so I guess the right outcome was reached.

All I know is, if you actually want to sell a set of these, you'd better call them hubcaps. Because to 99% of today's shoppers, this is a wheel cover:

list one as a hubcap and one as a wheel cover on ebay and see which gets the most hits. far more hubcaps than wheel covers, except for the actual covers for your wheel made of fabric.
now lets do clip and magazine.

  25. Coke, soda, pop… it’s regional vernacular, arguing which is the right one is like a British person and an American arguing if it’s spelled Tyre or tire. They’re both correct. Pointless.

All I know is it's hard to get $1 each at swaps or flea markets so I recycle all I get.

Back in the day we referred to them as "Flippers" but if left unattended were mostly called someone else's.
