Nope haven't seen it done? Why not go with a SBC like everyone else? I'm kidding why not use the 308 tho I'm sure I would fit. Dave Hitch FBBF
I have seen the Jet motor in a few older Hudsons. The 308s were huge compaired to some of the older smaller Hudson motors. I don't know why you would want to do it. My pop used to have a Jet with twin-H that he used as a drag car u/stock about 18 seconds in the quarter. But it usually won it's class.
The Jet had a 202 ci flathead Six, whereas your '38 had a 212 ci splasher flathead Six. Different blocks, but dimensionally very close. The 202 Jet Six will fit nicely under the hood of the '38. There are three other Hudson engines that were NOT available in the Jet, and they are likely what you are thinking of. They are the 232, 262, and 308 ci flathead Sixes, which are quite a bit larger in every way than either the 202 or the 212. You have to cut the firewall on the '38, as well as other fabbing, to get any of those three in the engine compartment of a '38, or any other non-Stepdown Hudson.
I had a Jet years ago. The engine compartment is way small for the bigger blocks 262/308. If I had one now I'd put a v-6 Chevy in it.......
my buddy put a 308 with dual carbs in a jet way back in the 60s. chopped the firewall a bit. that little sucker would really run it took some built small blocks to the cleaners
Like posted above, the jet had a 202. I've seen a 202 used in a 40s Hudson truck because it is a reliable engine and the first Hudson engine with a pressurized oil system. Also, like said above, I would imagine your thinking more of a hornet 308 engine. There is a
my hudson is a 112 with a 175 86 hp at 4000 rpm = slow the jet with water pump shaft shortend is the same lenth as 175
