Sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you feel as I lost my Dad as well. I wish I could be half the man he was.

  2. It's hard to add anything to all the great replies on this thread. I put an addition on my house when my dad's health was declining so he and my mom could stay with us. I get to see him every day. When he feels up to it he comes down in the garage to "inspect" my work on my 33 Chevy. I bought the project 4 years ago. He was born in 33 and I promised him the first ride. I need to get my butt in gear as he's going to be 78 this year.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

My Dad passed away at age 89... Years ago, I made a point of telling him that "The older I got, ,...The smarter HE got....." I'll never forget the look on his face....... 4TTRUK

I'm sure he understands. Don't give it a thought, because he's in a far better place than you and I!!!

  11. My heart brakes for you. I never got to see my mom before she died and I regret it to this day. I was one day too late.
I went to visit my dad (fortunately) just after she died and we spent some time together and he told me how much he missed her.
My dad deeply loved my mom and his 5 children.
He died only 8 days after my mom. It was really tragic.
I so want to talk to them now, ask them questions I have no answers for, absorb their knowledge and love.
Yes..................hug your dad & mom. Call them when you get up this morning.
    Tell them you love them!

    Jim

I'm very sorry about your dad, I lost mine 3 years ago at 62 years old. I would call him from time to time and when he was tolerant enough to use a computer, he would read the emails I sent and he would respond. Not a day goes by that I don't miss him and wish he was here. I also read his email responses from time to time. Makes me feel like he's still here in some way. It's tuff but I ride the bike we built together not giving a damn what anyone thinks. You do the same you hear. If it was good enough for your old man than it's good enough for you.
My deepest condolences. You and your family are in my prayers.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. I too lost my Dad not long ago. Cancer had set in and it was no return. After we lost Mom I sold my house and moved back in with him. Now that took some adjusting but we needed each other. For the next five years we went to carshows, nascar races, dirt track races, movies, and anything else together. We even restored two trucks together. We sold one and I still have the 68 Chevy today. Not a day goes by without me missing him. It was hard to go back to a carshow this year but I went on taking my two new boys. I too have old text messages, e-mails, and even a tape of him talking. It's still hard to this day but I know he is listening and would like for me to carry on.

So I know the pain and just knowing that one day we all will meet up with the ones we love.

Good Luck on all things that come and pass on what was passed to you.

just saw this post...today is my Dads birthday, he would have been 67, he's been gone almost 9 years...sorry for your loss

  19. BURNNFLAMZ, maybe do a little something to the car that your Dad would have done, or something that will remind you of him.

I'm thankful that my dad (and mom) are still around and they visited over Easter weekend and I finally got to show Dad all of the little things that I'm doing to the 49 that are sort of a tribute to him: The stock steelies are painted red because Dad ALWAYS painted the wheels on our cars red (even the 4 door daily drivers got red wheels under the hubcaps). Even though I REALLY wanted to do Radirs, as long as Dad is around I'll have red steelies on the truck. I'm also putting Mom & Dad's old phone number on the door as part of the faded logos that are being painted on this week. TU2-8272 was their number as I was growing up, so that was an easy choice. Finally - one of my Dad's favorite cars as I was growing up was our 61 Plymouth (AND I was born in 1961) so I'm using 61 Plymouth taillights on the truck.

And yeah, he got a chuckle out of the red wheels, and I do think about him and pray for him whenever I see the red wheels on my truck...

Just look forward to that great reunion in the sky someday and think of Dad every time that you turn that key!

Condolences to you and your family.

My dad and I fought like dogs until I was about 19 or so. Now he is my best friend and we talk everyday even though he lives in Vancouver and I live in New Orleans. He taught me everything I know and is still teaching me a thing or two!

Just do your best work on the car so as to honor your dad. I miss my dad too, but it is not as painful almost 2 years later now.
