Thanks everyone for making the trip out, despite the rain and cold. Given the circumstances, we were thrilled with the turnout -- and the fact that everyone pretty much got to make as many passes as they wanted to (if they stuck around)!

Hopefully we'll get better weather next year.

Nice job to Jester and Raygun -- who really led the charge on making the Heads Up happen.

  4. When you get your drivers window to work (or in!) I'd place it on that!

Great seeing you and your sweetheart again!

I wanted to see that 56 run against Bobwop's Willys but the track didn't hold up for that match.

Did everybody notice that when Bob would open the hood to the Willys.... it would start raining???

    you are so right!

actually, that 56 did line up with me, but had problems when the light turned green. I was on the return lane by the time he went down the track.

The Willys had the willies about running on that slippery track. Only one pass and that was with much hesitation. .5 second off.

Looks like the czars pulled off a good one. Too bad about the weather but it's a crap shoot this time of year.

  7. You're not the first one to suggest I put in drivers door glass. funny thing is I have windows but never roll them up, that elbow out the window adds interior space which is at a premium. :)

I heard the anouncer call it a TOP-o-lino and here it is recorded in the video. Shouldn't it be pronounced "Toe-PO-lino"? Here's a pic I snapped of it.

  22. Wow, cool picture! That's my Dad pushing me. He was at the track last back in 1965. He came with me to help and had a great time as did I.
Yes toe-po-lino is correct. I think he got it right later on.

Paul, Cool video this one is a classic....Good to see you, Bobwop and Ryan again....

Chrome Czars - By far the most fun I have had at Great Lakes possibly ever....awesome cars & turn out, great people friendly and talkative, and some great
photo ops at the starting line, I was watching video on Sunday from Saturday and some really cool match ups.....I liked that many guys tried to team up with cars semi close in times or look...for photo opportunities....really an excellent event....the new car shold be there for 2011......Thanks again Czars....really period perfect and FUN!!!

  24. That's my old t-bucket!

Thanks to the Czars for a great time!!! Will certainly do it again next year!

Check out Bangshift.com for their write up.

This was the first time I ever ran down a race track. My truck made a best time of 15.2 at 90mph...and that was with missing 4th gear. For whatever reason Thursday my tranny decided it didn't want to shift into 4th and I only had one pass that it made it into that gear. I hope to make it back to the track sometime in the next few months to see if I can make it in the low 14's with some tuning...and 4th gear. Anyone know anything about Tremec 3350's? send me a PM.

  25. Thanks Paul, sure post the vid of me making a bad pass! LOL The carbs coughed at the line, I didn't let it warm up enough. The next pass after that I had my best time of the day. Cool seeing two cars I built run against each other however.

  26. I've been to the "Grove" for other events and as soon as there was a sign of "sprinkles" the place would clear out like rats from a sinking ship!

However it was amazing to see how many people hung tight throughout the whole event!

Kudo's for such a cool event!

Congratulations to the Chrome Czars for doing a great job (as usual!!).
These guys really know how to put on a good show so the next time you meet up with one of them make sure you shake thier hand and thank them for keeping this thing we call real hot rodding alive.
I took my '53 Stude out for it's first road trip and it ran great. The weather could have been better but the day still turned out great. Got to see alot of old friends and alot of FANTASTIC cars and racing. Looking forward to next year and also the Pileup at it's new location!
