Fab32 and I drove down in his daily. After we got there, I wished I would have driven the '49 Chevy.
Man, what a great show. Much like the Motor City Billetproof only on a larger scale. Got to meet some new HAMBers and chat with some old ones.
Me, Max Gearhead and some others gathered at the banner at 2:00 as we had heard that that was the time for a meet and greet, but it never transpired.
Other than being a little chilly the show was awesome including the music.
Here's a few pics I took of some things I thought were "interesting".

    A couple more.
I believe the chopped Chevy used to belong to a HAMBer, right Mike?

I'll be back next year for sure.

  3. I think the problem was with the flame throwing being scheduled at the same time a lot of people went there....just a minor snafu to fix, still my favorite show

I was by the banner all day, had our chairs set up behind the 54 olds / 63 cad / 54 cad. Didn't see too many people around it all day, and left around 1:45 ish to see the flame thrower contest :D

I take a **************L.....how did psycho girls undies wind up in my shaving kit?

  17. Again, great show yesterday, a awesome time. I still have a nice "afterglow" and feel very creative on account of it.

Ya know, I had a white HAMB banner made that was 2x8 ft and had the same lettering plus this years Pile Up logo and bigger. I had a mishap on Friday and ruined it, so I whipped the black one out at 5a that morning.

I gotta say, I learned alot about this show this year and promise a better run HAMB "meet 'n greet" next year. I did try to meet as many HAMB'rs as I could find. If any of you that was there that I didn't meet, send me your mailing address and I'll send ya a "super, secret, I don't know where that came from" commemoritive HAMB Pile Up decal. Don't tell Ryan, I don't know what your talking about. :D :D ;)

No problem bro. Your drunken stories are amazing.

Haha, did you hurl on sunday morning? You were blitzed saturday night man. It was so funny, when the cop pulled up someones like "cops, hey the cops are here, act cool" Well ya how in cartoons when someone tells another guy to "act cool" and the guy starts lookin around whistelin, and looks totally gulty? Well that was you. I wish i had a video camera.

what a great show! i think it really should be called the midwest's "dustiest" car show, tho...:D

i thought the gayest thing i was gonna see all weekend, was the S.I.G. contingent, but on the way home, AND I SWEAR THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED-

We were tooling down I-55, getting various thumbs-ups, and what not, and as we're p***ing a big rig, I see the driver's window's down and he's waving. Not with has hand though, his ****in' Bright Blue Cookie Monster hand puppet. He must've been from southern Illinois...

    So check this out...

That engine.. a first gen small block chevy..alcohol fueled.. reverse flow.. Its runnin realy high compression, Kehin carbs and a modified crab style flatty distributor.. Bendtsons transmission adapters did the ****** work on it.. Cob Burandt from Anoka Minnesota did the engine work.. he is standing there in the pic.. doin some talking with his hands :) Great guy, fun to talk to.

Cob is one of those "big thinkers" and holds several patents on variable valve timing and a mul***ude of other things.

here is some info on him...
    http://www.spectrum.ieee.org/careers/careerstemplate.jsp?ArticleId=i050205

The entire thing was engineered and built in 100 days.

Remote cooling.. actaully two cars i noticed at the pileup from minnesota were remote coolers :)

This is the cool part.. the body.. is from my home town.. Coal City Ill.

    No BS

One of the familys in town was an upolsterer.. "C.L. Campbell" .. they found that on the doors called the library.. the library did some searching.. and found info about him.

freaky that they found the body up in wisconsin.. then hauled it to minnesota.. then it came back to the area for a visit.

That thing runs smooth... real smooth.

I never thought I would say this BUT that is the coolest SBC I have EVER seen!!!! He looks like he is expalining something "heavy" in that pic......

  23. The coolest thing (for me anyway) was when my dad and I were discussing that very car and he went about telling me how it was made to run in reverse....always cool learning something from an "old rodder":D

Inside the building was a '32 coupe with lots of rare old goodies on it. Looks like a sweet barn find. Kinemont disks, smooth Halibrands, a Zip quick change, aluminum lever shocks, a nekkid lady column drop :D [/QUOTE]

This was at the Kalamazoo swap meet a couple of years ago, unless the memory is totally gone this wasn't a barnfind as such but an "***embled" car (jump in here Rudy if you recall the car/story).... pretty cool either way...

I also had an awesome time. It was great to meet those of you that I did. I had a good time at the show and up at Fools. The real "magic" was in the Comfort Inn parking lot....especially when the cops came. Great weekend. Thanks to the Czars and everyone who put it on.- Dustin
