Oh, you fuckers are in so much trouble! Next year, I'm gonna drive up there and make sure you all behave yourselves like nice ladies and gentlemen... Cornfights? Jesus........it's a wonder someone didn't lose an eye...
Boy am I ever happy to say that I made it to the pile-up and even more happy to say that I was able to meet some HAMBers.... FINALLY!! This was the first time for me to meet anyone from this board and it was a pleasure. I met about a half dozen HAMBers. I realize that is bad considering the number of members present, but so many of you were there that I knew it would be impossible to meet you all. Plus I couldn't tell a HAMBer from a regular person just by looking at them and I wasn't prepared to walk around asking - hey!! You from the HAMB?. So I just partied like I was supposed to. I took my dad with me just for kicks. We got there early in the morning and there were just a handful of cars. I got kinda worried that the show would flop. At mid morning cars came flooding in like sweet rain water through a dry creek bed. All of a sudden there was this undescribeable feeling that began to come over this unassuming place. A normal looking body shop in the middle of nowhere, Ill. It was electric! The cars were just right, the weather was just right, the music was great, and everyone was there to have a good time. I saw no pissing contests all day long and noone there was bashing anyone else's efforts concerning the building of thier cars. I heard Paso John say that is was like going to 5 Pasos all at once. Like a super concentrated version of his favorite show. Yea, there was barely enough room there to walk in between the cars and it was elbow to elbow, bumper to bumper, but somehow that is why it was so rad. I only wish I had stayed at the microtel and mingled more, and I wish I could have stayed at the show until dark (I had to leave by 4:00 so I could take my daughter back home). I have pictures to post but I think my pictures all look exactly like the ones that I have been seeing. There was only so much room to stand and get a pic that I think just about all pics were taken from about the same viewpoints. I will refrain unless I think I have something different. I shot about 4 rolls of film. Best show I have been to for many years. It reminded me of the Harley rallies my dad took me to as a young child, before the RUBS and the milk and cookie type shit that goes on now, when bikes were raw and homebuilt, not bought... ....congrats to those of you who were involved in making this thing happen. (I need the old thumbs up smilie we used to have).
WOW, what a great show!!! A big old HUG to Andy,Brian,Justin and his family for having it there and the guys and girls, Hellfish,Magnet,Chromeczars,EMPEROS that help put it togeather. All the great car clubs and the HAMBers were just, well I just can't say enough good things..The HAMBers just greeted you with open arms and seemed like old freinds. Thanks Ryan!! Holy shit, still have a big old grin on my face when I think about it!! Best fricken time and coolest collection of cars yet!!! thanks continental
I had an awesome time. I guess I left too early Sunday morning. I missed all the shenanigans with Justin and Drew. Here is a pic of Justins new "ride". I guess he just can't resist anything that is "flaming" and has 2 "back doors".
[ QUOTE ] I was trying to think about what made the show so special. It wasn't JUST because it was ALL traditional rods and kustoms in a sea of muscle cars and billet mobiles. Then it dawned on me... the show was like one huge party where everyone drove REALLY cool cars!! [/ QUOTE ] I've been thinking the same thing... what exactly made the show so special and I've come to the conclusion, it was the people. You can have all the coolest rides in the world in one spot but without cool folks driving them, all you have is a bunch of cars. EVERYONE on Sat was so friendly, outgoing, and just wanted to have a great time. No one cared who drove what. Everyone loved all the projects that were there and I overheard lots of folks complimenting each other on the work done to their cars. No one cared where they parked, there were no attitudes. The left coast doesn't have anything on the midwest when it comes to throwing a kick-ass traditional hot rod and kustom show/party. The people there made the difference. HAMB folks were there enmass. It was awesome to see some old buds and meet so many new ones. Here's a copy of the same MicroTel lobby shot. I'm going to try to name everyone in order Left to right: front row: WowCars, Mel, Flt-Blk, MarkX 2nd row, kneeling: Bruce, Eyeball, Roadstar, Bugman, PBRmeASAP, CarArtNick on red cooler 3rd row: HotRodLadyCrusr, CherryBlossom, Chuck Fahr, Tweeked47, Back row: MrGasser, PasoJohn, Tuck, Sparky54, KustomBuilder, Can't tell, Hellfish, Mojo66, TopDeadCenter, Scallop53. I also took quite a few photos, but most look like all the others. What I do have though is some cool people shots, lots of HAMB folks. I'll post some of those tonight. Again, thanks to all those involved in pulling off this great event. Your hard work was very much appreciated. Looking forward to next year already.
Here is project row. Some cool stuff. I loved the "seven window" posted earlier (you can only see the front tire in this pic) you had to look twice to figure it out. I may have to steal that idea next.
We missed everyone at the no tell motel. It started raining so we rolled all the "trailer queens" inside so they didn't get wet and hung out inside for a while.
I Think i managed to avoid any photographic evidence that i was actually there!!!! But i was and it kicked ass well worth the drive next year were bringing some cars along
As it was stated earlier.....It KICKED ASS. I plan to try to make it an annual event. Thanks to sparky54 and Triangles for the great show in the conference room. Watching sparky trying to pick up triangles was the funniest thing I had seen in a long time, thanks for the show. I took a sh*$ load of pics and I'll try to get some up tonight.
The show kicked ass, thanks Andy and associates. We left at 9:00am and finally got home safe at 12:30 last night, now I'm dead tired at work. I would do it again in a heart beat. It was great to see some friends and make a bunch more, I felt very welcome considering I was a ways away from home. Sparky54 I don't know what to say, like I told Eyeball, there were two hunnertcarpileup's and you were one. TZ

FYI, anyone planning a wedding in early Oct next year is going to get their ass kicked!! NEXT year, my car WILL make it. We're going to get a hotel room too and make a weekend out of it. That's so cool that the shirts were such a hit. Glad you all liked them. I'll start thinking of next year's design once I get back from SoCal next week. We have already begun discussing what was good, what was bad, and what needs to change for the HUNNERT CAR PILEUP 2004. Make no mistake... it will RULE.
[ QUOTE ] and Props to Drew for Parking the Billet-boys and post 63s across the street.! [/ QUOTE ] Another amazing thing about the show was that surprisingly few cars got turned away. People seemed to "get" what we were doing and respected our show. Sure a few billet boys got pissed an chirped their tires, but most parked across the street, came in and had a good time anyway! Drew aka Abomber30 is such a NICE guy that I'm surprised he could turn anyone away, but he did. MarkX, man it was great meeting you and FltBlk! No one could believe you guys drove up from Texas. Some of us Chrome Czars are going to try and drive down to your show in the Spring. Maybe we can get a HAMB caravan going down. I know Magnet will be at the Drags next month. Joe aka Hellfish
All I have to say is who is this Cheater Gay guy?!?!?!?!?!? Oh and Thanx for the Kick Ass show EVERYONE!!!!
Cheater GAY was hanging out with RUSTY NUTS and KRAVEN MOOREHEAD over by the corn dog stand... you didnt see em?
Magnet "Well "Mr Cap'n Fancy Pants"" From the "Round-up", "Cheaters show" to the "Pile-up"..., People are starting to "Talk"! They think you're in love with me, and I say..., "NO" but your girl friend is...! But she has to drag you around against your will as a diversion! Great seeing you and your "sweetie" at the show, was shocked to see "Amy" made it up from Austin and brought her Dad..., that was Kool! I'll Know about the drags by the end of this week! Mark
