I did the same thing, She meantioned October and I told her any weekend but the Hunnert car weekend. Looks like 2 hunnert bachelor parties....lol
Well, we're not having it this year, but all the same guys are at the Lion's swap the following day with all the same stuff, so stick around and support the Lion's CLub. Their swap is 20x larger than our swap ever was.
In Channahon Il there is a hotel ,Manor Inn, if anybody needs a room, only ten miles from Morris. Somebody say Silver Slipper?
Hotel Joliet. Recommended by Jake (gives it five stripes). Vacancy. Accommodates up to 1,300 "guests".
Most of the rooms in Morris are booked by now, Joliet has a bunch of hotels and its not really that far away. Like 'fish said, no swap this year.. we are going to focus on doing the car show right Be sure sign up as a volunteer, your labor makes donations possible.. so far... the huinnert car pileup has generated $35,500 in donations for misc charities across the states. The Redshirt Army(tm) (pileup volunteers) makes all that happen. Go to the site and click on the volunteer link. Outside parking out front for the spectators got a bit overcrowded last year.... to the point the ambulances were having a hard time getting in and out. (yes i said ambulances.. plural) We have some changes we will be making, some optimizations This means that we wont have room for trucks with trailers of junk and old cars for sale along the main drive in.. truthfully.. we wont have room for any trucks and trailers in the main parking lot... this is a drive in car show anyway..... and campers will have to be in the designated camper area along the fence north of the main gate... but we will only have room for a couple. Signs will be posted, just pay attention and everything should be ok.. i do know a guy with a tow truck... I have a funny feeling its going to be cold again, so bundle up.. and pray for rain Oh yeah.. there are beans in the south field... dang it.

Does anybody have a room in Morris that they don't need? I called a long time back and there were no rooms.
As has been several times, ALL the rooms IN Morris sold out in early Spring, BUT there are rooms available in the surrounding towns of Joliet, Yorkville, Ottawa, and Dwight. All are 15-20 minutes away. You can always keep calling the hotels in Morris though. I'm sure they will have cancellations the week of the show... but they also have waiting lists, so I would rely on it. Did I mention BLEED is playing Saturday night?
ummm hey, I was wondering, is there a swap meet? that's funny right, cuz everyone knows there is not one, so it's funny I asked that. I'm pretty funny. see you boys there. Love, Cheatercarl
Pray for an early frost please! This will be the first in 4 yrs that I won't be the free beer guy stupid farming
Its getting close.. the plans are starting to come together.. Unfortunately, i talked with VooDoo Larry last night, we had to cancel the VooDoo Kings "Ring of Fire" flamethrowing exhibition... insurance wouldn't let us do it anymore. The VooDoo kings have been an integral part of the show since the beginning and the Ring of Fire was a huge crowd pleaser. But other than that.. its going to be a great show... improved vendor layout.. better parking and exit traffic flow out front and more space inside, porta-potties strategically placed Kick ass bands.
RIP Ring of Fire. Thats a bummer. I think that bike ruined it last year but man that was cool to see.
We still need volunteers to commit 2 hours to help us run the show. LOTS of benefits. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=368108
swap wasnt that great anyway, and flamethrowin in broad daylight wasnt that great either! way cooler friday night when there on the street!
Exactly, and it's not like we had any choice in the Ring of Fire matter. No show, or no flame throwing show. Which would you choose? As for the swap, the swap on sunday is MUCH bigger and better than our little swap and ALL the same vendors will be there. That means you have more time to look at cars and hang out on Saturday, and all day Sunday to scavenge for parts. Win-Win.
I will attest that volunteering to help at this show is WELL worth the 2 hours of work....you will want to work 12 hours when you find out how kool it is!! Premium parking is worth it right there! The Czars know how to treat their volunteers!!! T-shirt....chance to be part of the second best midwest show...Symco being the best...he he he...can't help the free plugs, sorry. Not to mention all the other perks you get...and there are a LOT!! Seriously, if you want to really experience this show, help out for a couple of hours. These guys are the best and really know how to do a large show!! Can't wait! only a month away! DW, is it true that you are having the Vagabonds work the free mustache ride booth this year?
