You guys have been a bad influence on me. I used to build and drive billet trailer queens now I am driving a slammed original paint 1958 Fairlane complete with the oil leaking 6 cylinder and after five years of not bringing a car to the Hunnert this will be my first as a participant and I am looking forward to cruising through the gates. Here is what I used to build and drive but thanks to youse guyz I am now a sinner saved by Pabst and rockabilly music..
Looking forward to it again. Always a great time. I plan on taking my 9 year old son, it will be his 1st time and my 4th. Hopefully this weather can carry over in October either way we won't miss it.
Roadster has been sold and now I am beginning my new build on a 1959 Jaguar Mark9. Sodaturk did a killer photochop of it here on the HAMB and we liked it so much it is coming into the shop to get cut up.Here is Sodaturks photochop. See ya at the Hunnert. one on the left is photochopped, one on the right is original
Ok folks , we will draging the Vagabonds Grill down for a friday night cook your own shit ,just like last year, show us your meat and slap it on are grill ! hehehe not sure what hotel we will be set up at so stay tuned. Looking forward to see you all there!
I'm surprised the Czars didn't mention that you can camp out at the fairgrounds. Not the best, but the cheapest, by far. We ended up hanging out until 3:00, just BSing in the parking lot. Just remember: no fires! If I can power drive 1,200 miles for this, what's your excuse?
I was standing in the parking lot at the fairgrounds friday night, me and Streamwood Eddie measured it up.. whats shocking is that that huge field fills up with spectator cars. Shocking. This is going to be a good one.. most all of the arrangements are made.. we are a little more organized than last year.. i even have my "No Gold Chainers" sign ready to go Just a quick public safety announcement... No fires (including flamethrowing), no glass bottles.. keep the glass outside.. cans and cups.. no pets.. fairground rules.. use common sense. We expect to have 15,000 spectators.. lots of them kids.. so when you are driving in.. drive slowly and be aware of children.. we dont want anyone getting hurt. The cool thing is that i don't even have to say things like "Leave your attitudes at the door" type stuff.. its almost like the pileup is like switzerland. Everyone shows up and has fun.. no problems. The fuzz has been alerted to our coming.. they will be on the lookout for idiots.. they will also show up in force to let everyone know they are in charge.. so be nice.. stay off the middle of the street at the bar.. and it is illegal to have open alcohol on the streets of morris. Dont hang around out front and drink beer..they will be watching for it. The bar has been gracious to welcome us back.. tip the staff.. be courteous.. and they have drink specials for us. The cover pays for the bands and stuff.. Your entrance fees cover the show costs and enables us to donate to misc charities across the USA. Come up and introduce yourselves.. say hi and shoot the shit with me if you see me. I will be a little busy at the show but i got nothing going on at the bar so i can BS a bit. Tell me where you came from etc. I have a special kind of "Hug" especially for Rashy.. and i guess i can give one to LouverDude too.
Oh, so you are going now? I have an extra hotel room at the Quality Inn. Two double queens. Are we volunteering on Friday or what is the deal for this year Steve...DW?
I came up last year and swore that I would be there again this year. Ain't gonna happen. Had some surgery done and going to be a while before I am out and about. Can't wait for the pictures to be posted and for next year. I thought I had been to some cool shows but this one absolutely is a blast. Met some great folks and saw some really cool shit. Have fun. Wish I was going to be there. Later, Dick
Cliffy I think most of your crew is volunteering Friday - I will email you guys separately. Gimme a few days - work is smoking me right now.
well we plan on going there on friday to check for vacances and to take photos should be fun HOTRODED
the funny thing is we( my friend tom and i) spread the word all year and cant get anybody from our area to brave the ride.SISSYS. the friday show up, down town and the flame throwing on the corners is cool even the antique shops were fun except for those stinky guys who were blowing ass from indiana haha., then the crowd of people and the amount of great cars on saturday is amazing and thats before they open the gates. then the recap of the show down town again on saturday night is just as cool as the show. THE PEOPLE FROM THE MIDWEST ARE JUST COOL. this will be our 3rd pile up, last year we found that swap meet and your are correct there was alot of stuff there, my henry J was full with alot of stuff on the long ride home . cant wait 3 weeks left shit I'm already packed .
well if i could sell this dam house i would be there already that is my plan to move closer to you dw haha
