This year's Pileup was an odd one. We all know what happened, but allow me to point out a few things.

    1. We were shut down 5 hours early, which means we lost 5 hours of income from an 8-9 hour show.

    2. After paying our bills and setting aside the money we need for next year (if there is a "next year"), we were still able to give away $15,000 to charity! A big decline from last year, but not bad considering the circumstances.

    3. We auctioned off one of OldSignBob's vinyl Pileup banners on the HAMB for charity and got another $400!

    So, where'd the money go?

There are so many deserving charities out there that it really is a hard decision to make, but each Czar, Catherine, and Mikeco picked one each. Here's a list of the charities we chose to donate to this year. Each got $1,500 (or $400 from the banner).

    Noble Network of Charter Schools

    Disabled American Veterans

    D'Youville Foundation

    Northern Illinois Food Bank

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)

    H.O.P.E. Safehouse, Inc.

    B-29/B-24 Squadron

    Illinois Veterans Home

    Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation

    Midwest Shelter for Homeless Veterans

Mikeco won the auction and wanted his money to go to the American Cancer Society

Thanks for all of your help and support!

There is no one on earth going to this amount of trouble to just give the money away to needy groups. You guys rock.

    Loved the show this year!

  5. Good job mens!

    And ladies also, of course.

It wouldn't be such a burden to pay ever increasing prices to attend shows if more organizers followed your lead.

    Job well done!!!

another amazing job by the Czars and the Red Shirt Army

    out of curiousity.........
will the Hunnert Heads Up be the same way?

    Proceeds heading to charity?

I really think the Heads Up could be even BIGGER than the HCPU.

The first year was a great turn out and I am positive it will only get bigger...............and it will build much faster than the HCPU did.

It took about5 or 6 years to get the # of cars in there right?

I suspect in 3 -4 years the Heads Up will be just as big as the pile up - simply by word of mouth.

    http://www.hunnertcarpileup.com/headsup

The next date for the Heads Up is May 8 correct?

Hope ya'll let me set up again this year!

I was upset that I did not get to see more drags..........
but this year you have it all to yourself right?

    Gonna be a great time.

So all you people that are wishing for another Hunnert Car Pile Up........there ya go.

Thanks! It seems like the right thing to do.

We should have an answer on the Pileup's fate soon. There's a lot to consider. We appreciate your patience. :)

The Hunnert Car Heads-Up is, indeed, on May 8 and Great Lakes Dragway is giving us an entire Saturday to run as we see fit and that means 64 and earlier hot rods, dragsters, etc on the track. Period.

The Heads-Up money will also go to charity, but I doubt there will be much, if any, given that the show is just starting out and the track has to cover it's expenses first. The more racers and spectators that show up, the more likely we can give money away!

    Well done & VERY classy!!!!
Due to the circumstances surrounding last year event w/the roads & the cops & all that jaszz, it was the 1st Pile Up I ever "missed".
I did however enjoy my time at your drag strip event & will be attending again this year.
Very excited about it in fact.
Thanks for all the effort you folks put out & for being so damn sexy.

    The Tradition Continues.

In days of yore, there were many car clubs such as the Chrome Czars. In those days members had their metal car club plaques dangling from the rear of their cars to let all behind, know who they were following.

Many clubs even had business cards printed out, giving their names, their club name, a city, and maybe even a address of their club house.

Some times organized get togethers were organized with the local police departments. This was done to let the public know that they weren't just a bunch of hooligans wearing black leather jackets with their collars turned up, slicked back hair.

These were young guys who would stop to help when they saw someone broke down by the side of the road.

And so it is with the Chrome Czars. A club of young men who still believe in the traditional ways. They give of themselves for others, like no other Hot Rod car club in existence today.

In nine short years, the Chrome Czars have built the Hunnert Car Pileup held in Morris, Illinois to a show that has become known world wide. By their efforts and of those of the Red Shirt volunteer army, the Pileup is one of the country's premier car shows, featuring hot rodding as it was in days gone by.

To you members to the Chrome Czars you bring to us, faith there are still good things about hot rodding. You renew our faith in people, people who are both kind and generous.

Surely there will be a place in Hot Rod Heaven for each of you for remembering others above yourselves.

Let your car club plaques dangle for us to follow. We will know we are truely following leaders.

    Sincerely,

    Dallas aka HellRaiser
