I'm in contact with a few that are listed. So far Microtel is offering us a group rate of $40 a nite plus tax. Reg rate is $64 plus tax. I'm waiting for a couple of return phone calls to see if anyone can beat their deal. When it's set up I'll post the group rate info. Hope I didn't step on anyones toes but I hate paying full price for anything. Anyone found a less expensive place?
Denise, I called Microtel last week to make a reservation, (it's where we stayed last year--nice hotel), but the girl said there was NO group rates for the Pileup,...maybe I should call her back...
We can get the group rate, the problem is that lots of folks have already made their reservations there and there isn't enough rooms actually left get the $40 group rate. What needs to happen is everyone who has made their reservation there needs to cancel, then she'll set up the group rate, then everyone can rebook the rooms at the less expensive rate. She said she can't overbook to obtain the group rate. Sounds like a pain in the **** BUT is worth the $25 per nite difference for sure.

They have a few rooms left but not 20 to set aside for a group rate. Are there quite a few folks already book in there? Are you guys that are already book there willing to cancel, then rebook?
I guess we need to determine if we have 20 folks here that have book a room already. If you did it all in one phone call I guess you'd be ok. It will take some organization. You need to get everyones first and last name I would imagine on a list, call Rebecca at the Microtel, cancel all the rooms, book the group rooms, then put each room in each persons name, give each of those folks their "new" confirmation number, then each person can call back and put their own credit card number on the new room.
if we find out who is registered, could you sweet talk them into giving all of us the discount without having to un-register? maybe tell them you found a better rate elsewhere, but not quite as good as their discount rates. there may not be 20 registered YET, but there WILL be if we get that rate.
I would register for a room if there isn't twenty yet....even if there is twenty, I would register.... I'll keep my eyes peeled on this thread.
