Anybody here with the Hurst recap cheater slicks 28.75/8.5/15 mounted on 15x7 inch rims? I am trying to find the section width. I need a tire with a section width of less than 11 inches. The Hurst site does not list section width. Radir offers a bias ply cheater slick 8.2-15 with a section width of 11 inches. I have had some people tell me that the radial will be rounder and have a greater section width than the bias ply tire. The Hursts are capped on 235/75/15 Michelin tires, which have a section width of about 9 inches. Can I ***ume that the section width stays the same once the tire is recapped?
I have mine on 8 1/2" wheels, I think they are less than 11" so your 7" would be even narrower. I'll measure them when I get home if no one helps you first. Send me a P.M. later tonight if I forget.
The guys I spoke to at Hurst as well as at their Canadian distributor said that I should be fine. They said the tire doesn't bulge out very much and has a fairly square profile. They don't think the section width should be very much more than 9". If you do get a chance to measure your tires on 8.5" rims, please do. I am curious to know.
Just measured my new, never on the road Hursts, 8 1/2 by 28 tall on new Rally America 15 by 7 steel wheels. Section is 9 5/8".
