This is from an e-mail I received this morning from Eileen Daniels. I thought this would be the place to post it... Between 1AM and 4AM on Saturday, August 8, 2009, FOUR Hurst/Olds were stolen from 2 hotel parking lots adjacent to each other in Indianapolis, Indiana. There were over 125 H/O’s in attendance for the Hurst/Olds Club of America 25th National Meet. This was a calculated "hit", not a random crime. The thieves knew we were going to be there, they knew which cars they wanted, they knew what they were doing and they got us! It took them less than 1 minute to gain entry to a car, have it running and leaving the parking lot. They used a white crew cab pick up truck and drove into the lot and parked like they were a guest. One person exited the truck and hit the car, then both left. They went back and forth from one hotel to the other, not raising suspicion. This was evident from reviewing the hotels security tapes. Following is a list of the cars with unique features about each. All of the cars had a roof option. 1979 Hurst/Olds black and gold Rare factory moonroof Rare black vinyl interior – drivers seat has a small hole from a broken spring Chrome cover over the A/C pulley mounted with brass screws Crack in the RH corner of the black dash pad Switches mounted on the hood, trunk & doors from an old security system Lock to actuate the old system is still located under the left parking light. Wow, who knew those were worth stealing now day's. Still sucks, death to all thieves! If they were that organized I'd bet the cars are already in containers in the hold of some ship bound for the orient. I hope not.
again i notice a trend here on these high profile car thefts a White crew cab pick up truck..this is like the 5th or 6th time i have read this in a classic car theft report..this year alone..and i think a few at the end of "08" coincidence? i think not.. organized crime? definetly pro's..yep protected? and the right people turning a blind eye to it..I think so
BTT sorry if you guys are sick of reading this but if it was my car I'd want everyone to read this!!!
Those cars are now sitting 4 feet off the ground on 28" wheels. If they are found at all, they will look like this:
well its true what they say...... "LOCK YOUR CAR OR IT MAY BE GONE IN 60 SECONDS!" (not to make light of a shitty situation i wouldnt want to be in, just thought it was fitting) </pre>

That sucks large. Thieves, on any scale, should be dragged behind a train. I have rope. kraka:LOCKED CARS TAKE 65 SECONDS. jaever get good at a slim jim. I worked as a tow truck driver and I can get in in the blink of an eye. 45 dollars now a days for the "pop-a-lock" dude.
those things are actually a pretty hot item in the right crowd.....8.5 rears bring 750 and up....this car theft thing is getting waaaay out of hand.
well i hope the cops did some home work on the car(s) when found , that good detective work could pay off in a bust.. what we need is more involvement on all levels..to keep this shit to a minimum. ( i know im wishing for too much to believe it can be erradicated completely, its a nice thought) I heard there was a Corvette stolen at the Woodward Dream Cruise, think it was a 68 or 9?..all those people..all those cops, and it slipped away..
Exactly! it pays to have friends and know who's car belongs to who..and be confident enough to stop someone if they were driving off with some ones car you know.. ,that car doesnt belong to.
