Found an original shifter at a swap meet. Ordered the installation kit and had to die grind all of the levers that were in the kit to fit the arms in my Muncie also. It's sad that a company like Hurst sends out shit like this. Also, the entire kit came in a plastic bag in the "Hurst, America,s #1 shifter" box. (which was made in the USA) with no protectors on the rod threads. Dennis D
I hear ya brother! I don't even want to think about 20 years from now. Something's got to change. Looks like that 30 year old NOS Hurst shifter I have in the garage just may be worth something now, huh? Don't bother asking though. Not for sale.
i would somewhat agree, but somewhat disagree: i think the problem is mindset, not nessesarily "ability." i don't think the Chinese culture is one that emphasizes quality/thoroughness. If anything quantity over quality. i mean if you grew up in Germany or Japan, then doing things to maximum/anal/obsessive levels is all you know. You don't know anything else. In China, it's "that's just the way it is" mentality. They figure if producing crap works, then just go with it. And a large number of workers probably don't know they are producing crap. But never mind the shifters, what about all the girl babies they killed or abandonded? This country can't make quality products AND they don't like girls. What is up with that? I think their country (as well as ours) is doomed. Sorry, i was just in a political mood this morning.
