My name is Don and I've lived in Howell, MI for the last 35 years. I was born and raised in SW NE on a large farm where I learned how to do just about everything from autos to vets. I got my BSME from NU in 1970 and came to MI to work for GM. I retired from Ford Powertrain Engrg. after 30 years in 2002. I recently finished a frame off restoration of my college car, a '61 black Belair bubbletop w/ 315 HP 3X2's 348, 5 speed Tremec, PS, PB, AC, sterio, etc. I fractured my back when I fell off a gazebo roof I was building 6 weeks ago. As soon as I recover, I'm starting on my '56 short bed Chevy pickup. I bought it on ebay a few years ago. It's a really nice stock low mileage truck from Idaho. I also just purchased a '53 Plymouth (yes they are pretty homely but it was my first car) 2 DR HT from Oregon. It's gonna get a 392 Hemi/Tremec and the works. I bought my wife a '36 Ford convertible street rod. She just loves it and has put more miles on it in 2 years than I have put on all the special cars I've owned in the last 35 years. I found the HAMB site while Googling for a place to drop a front axle. I'm mostly a reader, not a writer but would like some advice from time to time on what to do with my truck. Don Rietsch (pronounced Reach)
Your wife sounds like my kinda gal. I've got a passion for drop top and the folks that drive the wheels off them. Got a photo of the '36? I'll keep my eye out for her. Welcome to the HAMB.
I was happy for them and really hoping they would win the Big 12. I'm tired of OK and TX. I was even pulling for them when they played the Huskers because I figured more NU losses would assure Callahan would be sent packin'. Just remember, NU is like Schwarzenegger, "We'll be back!"
Welcome, Don. I grew up in Oklahoma, but went to school in Seward, NE. Nebraska is a great state if you can handle the cold. Did you grow up anywhere near Potter or Gurley? One of my best friends pastored Lutheran churches there.
KU has a long way to go, they're like 2-37 in the series with NU. I'm a wolverine fan, personally, but being from kansas, I just have to smile a little.
